Pedro Quezada, a New Jersey bodega owner who struck it rich by winning Powerball, celebrates his lottery victory during a press conference on Tuesday. But the Passaic County Sheriff says Quezada cant claim his bounty, $338 million, until he pays off $29,000 in outstanding child support.

He has a job and he owes child support.
“He has a job and he owes child support.”
Is that it? How much does he make? What are his monthly payments. An awful lot of jobs out there will not even provide food and housing for one person.
Sounds like you know nothing...
Hi. We represent the New Joisey loan an' finance company. Meet our board of directors.
“Got a prison record? We don’t care.”
“Don’t have a job? We don’t care.”
“You don’t expect to pay us? THAT’S when we care.”
Let’s see. Assets equal to $338,000,000 before taxes. Needs 29,000 loan to pay off the ex-wife for support. I’m prety sure he can get a loan.
As a side note, it wouldn't suprise me in the least if one of his customers bought the ticket then brought it back to him to see if it was a winner and as occasionally happens, he says no, pretends to throw it away and the ticket buyer walks away thinking they were a loser.......and he cashes in.
While I'm sure that has happened in this case he didn't have lotto in his store and bought the ticket at another store.
Not really interested in your opinion, sorry.
“News Flash: Not all divorced women are saints.”
Just most.
Yeah, okay.
Oh, that blows my theory out of the water......
Don’t give up so easy. - Remember what Churchill said - “Never, never, never, never, never, never, NEVAH!, GIVE UP!”
Mandated child support is least among the culprits of the dissolution of the family unit, whether in the inner-city, suburbia, or rural America.
I have the sneeky feeling he’s gunna owe a lot more than
$29K going forward.
Mama just hit the big one, too.
So the creep owes child support. It will get paid. The big question in my mind is whether he’ll share his winnings with that child or children....does he have a heart?
I had an employed Christian ex who NEVER paid his child support, and in fact, stole money from his children’s accounts — money they had made themselves, as child models. Of course the children felt awful about this.
At least the lottery winner has a chance to make restitution both financially and emotionally to all of his children. Let’s hope that he does.
Please...
I worked with this group for twenty years. I have seen first hand what this mandate has done.
Would you elaborate? I see lots of villains. Women being encouraged (paid) to have children out of wedlock, having more children than they can possibly care for to get the money, children having children. Incentive for fathers not to be there. On and on and on. How do you separate out mandated child support for first place honors?
