Sen. Pat Leahy, D-Vt., indicated that he will expedite immigration reform by skipping by further committee hearings on the legislation in a sharp letter to a leading Republican lawmaker a letter characterized by a striking amount of trash-talking about immigration issues and politics.
I intend to proceed to comprehensive immigration reform with all deliberate speed, Leahy wrote to Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., in a letter today informing Sessions that Republicans will only have one week to consider the immigration bill
[snip] If any of the more junior Senators need time to get up to speed, I will look forward to them discussing their specific readiness problems with me directly and I will look forward to working with them as well, he said.
Sessions rejected such a schedule. The Chairmans suggestion that we dont need hearings on this new proposal because we have held immigration hearings in the past misses the entire point: the massive proposal being cobbled together by a group of Senators in secret must be independently judged and reviewed by the Judiciary Committee in the full light of day, he stated in response to Leahys letter, a process that would take months, in his estimation.

Hire GI's and other Americans.
Leahy has a face like a baby’s a$$. ...Which is ironic considering “Leaky” Leahy is a horse’s a$$.
Obama plans a trip to Mexico in May. This sounds like a drive for him to gift wrap the US to Enrique Nieto.
Alabama’s Sessions is a stud duck; Leaky is a dud f***.
I suspect that all the rush that the Democrats seem to be wanting done at all levels of government is because they see The Messiah’s popularity sinking like the sunset. They know if they don’t get it done in the next few months it will never happen.
Hey!!
Let’s make more immigration laws that won’t be enforced!!
They were so successful with ramming Obamacare down our throats that they are still feeling cocky.
yep, and in 6 months we will begin the runup to the 2014 midterms.
And they know, no one is going to touch it with a ten foot pole in an election year.
Another 20,000 page bill no one will read and later discover another $25 billion in new taxes on tax payers. All new citizens must vote democrat or not be allowed to vote. Total gun control. Several new laws like this that no one will know about until around 2017 when someone finally gets around to reading the danged thing.
It’s pretty clear that The Messiah has long been repudiated by the American people, but they have yet to reject the Obamamessiah.
The Heritage Foundation concluded that the cost of amnesty would be $2.6 trillion just for increased entitlement program costs. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen.
18 plates spinning at once. Gun grabbing legislation. Shamnesty. Same sex marriage/adoption. Obamacare/death panels.
Can’t mobilize effectively against such a multiheaded beast.
Please let this go away...
There are enough circuit breakers in our laws to prevent it. IF the Republicans will take their you-know-whats out of their you-know-whats.
That’s what the GOP said in 1986.
This seems aimed at getting more voters forget about being a nation of laws.I’m surprised, they are giving up this much information.
