Former Sen. Larry Pressler (R-SD), a Vietnam veteran who served in Congress for more than two decades, said Tuesday on Current TV that the movement for marriage equality is much like the movement for racial equality, and confidently declared that the Republican Party is now in the process of making the right to marry the new conservative position.
The main thing that caused me to change my mind was my work with veterans groups, he told Viewpoint host John Fugelsang, explaining that hes worked with a gay couple who want to marry and have a family.
Its something like in World War II, we had the African-American veterans who fought, but when they got home they couldnt vote, Pressler added. So now-a-days we have gays in the military we had gays in the military before, but now we have openly gay people in the military when they come out we tell them they are not entitled to this civil right.

Cool story bro.
Also, isn’t ‘new’ + conservative + position an oxymoron?
Didn’t a cop bust him for trying to smoke human cigars in a an airport bathroom?
Speak for yourself, chump.
There is move afoot to have folks pay higher insurance premiums, if they are overweight, smokers or drinkers. Maybe they should have homosexuals pay more for their risky sexual behaviour which can lead to AIDS.
He means the “libertarian” position, not the “conservative” position.
Sorry Senator, same sex marriage isn’t a conservative position-it’s a republican one. There’s a big difference.
What an insult to those who truly put their lives on the line during the Civil Rights movement, to equate discrimination based on a characteristic, with that of one's behavior.
I was a WW II veteran and I couldn't vote. I got in at 18 and out before I was 21.
At this rate, every Republican in DC will be in favor of Gay Marriage by the end of June
.........................................................
The politicians will. They all have their fingers up in the wind. Or up some fruits butt.
The rank and file will not. Hopefully the new party gets kicked off soon. I sure am ready for i.
Getting a bit tired of being double crossed and sold out.
Sorry, my husband took the last one ;)
We’ve been voting for these pukes entirely unaware who they are. We’ve pulled the “R” because that was supposedly better than the “D”.
Every candidate in the future is going to have to prove a very long record of support for life, natural family, natural marriage, and natural lifestyle for me to support anyone ever again.
And, once you open the door to that, who can say no to threesomes, harems of 60, or even inter-species marriage?
The government, by wading into this mess, has shown that it is utterly incapable of defining marriage at all.
I don’t care how hard it is. I will never vote for anyone for anything who supports homosexual “marriage”. NEVER. And I won’t vote for anyone who has a homosexual child.
“Aagghh, they’re coming out of woodwork!”
LOL. Oh, how the media NOW love to say "A Vietnam veteran..." after the media attacked the Vietnam vets over and over again for years.
Now because a guy is a Vietnam vet AND IS SPEWING LIBERAL CRAP, then he is suddenly a hero.
Sorry, Larry, you're wrong. Being pro-sodomy is not conservative.
Another “Wide Stance” Republican.
He is a Republican....just not a Conservative
“This is an effort to avoid the Federal Marriage Amendment.”
They won’t have to make much of an effort; that’ll never pass now. Not in either house of Congress, nor the required 38 states.
Fifteen years ago, maybe. But public opinion has swing so far we’ll never see it. DOMA was our opportunity, but we took the easy way out and will now watch that get tossed out by SCOTUS.
They are trying to turn marriage into a meaningless joke. If two men can marry, why not three men? Why not allow man and animal to marry? A man and a dog have as much business getting married as two men. Our society is really sick.
