Ryan Rotela, a junior at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), is waging a bizarre allegation against his professor, Dr. Deandre Poole.
The student is claiming that hes been suspended from his intercultural communications class for refusing to write JESUS on a sheet of paper, throw it on the floor and then stomp on it a request that the instructor apparently made.
If youre already scratching your head, youre not alone. The curious claim caught the attention of WPEC-TV, a South Florida CBS affiliate.
Rotela, a devout Mormon, says he refused to participate in the purported activity and told Poole that he found the request offensive.
Anytime you stomp on something it shows that you believe that something has no value. So if you were to stomp on the word Jesus, it says that the word has no value, Rotela told WPEC-TV.
But the situation purportedly became even more contentious a few days after the alleged paper incident occurred. After Rotela went to his professors supervisor to complain, he claims he was suspended from the class.
According to WPEC, heres how the school responded to an inquiry about the situation:
Faculty and students at academic institutions pursue knowledge and engage in open discourse. While at times the topics discussed may be sensitive, a university environment is a venue for such dialogue and debate.
Its important to note that this is an allegation and that the other side has not adequately been heard from. TheBlaze called FAU and e-mailed Poole for comment. We have not heard from either party.
This is from four days ago. They changed their mind on it.
The absolute WORST thing about this is that ONLY ONE STUDENT COMPLAINED!!!
This is old news and I believe its been reversed
The rest were probably stoned and or looking at porn on there hand held.It is FAU
Why was he really suspended?
How many people go to college and do not complete an assignment, then are suspended?
This was an assignment, and he chose not to complete it, that does not warrant suspension, so again why was he really suspended?
I suspect I would have written “Allah” on the paper and stomped it. They couldn’t object to that. Right?
Judging by the first name, I am thinking the instructor is Black Racist? I don’t think even White Guilt Liberals name their kids Deandre
Deandre is my cousin’s name. It has been in the family for decades. Judging skin color from this name would not work for my family, so might not hold true in this case. If the first name was Barak, however, it might imply something...
If this had been a Muslim related incidence......oh, never mind.
Who is ALSO the Vice Chairman of the Palm Beach County DEMOCRAT PARTY.
I’ve been saying that all along. I would love to see the make up of that class and find out how many participated in this insidious assignment.
What is this Affirmative Action “doctor” a doctor of?
Since this story broke a few days ago, the school has since backed down on their decision to discipline the student. However I submit that the problem still exists and is worse than ever due to the existence of these “classes” in stalinist/racist/anti-christian indoctrination. The school should be hounded until the entire curriculum is restructured and the commies rooted out.
generally if you don’t do an assignment you get a bad grade, but when you refuse a leftist indoctrination assignment you get suspended. Like the student who refused to recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance
They “apologized”. The student should sue for millions like the left does when they feel wronged.
Looks like he has a doctorate of “Being a perpetually offended minority”.
Didn’t the University claim that nobody was disciplined and then subsequently disciplined the student?
I know this has been reversed, but I wonder how offended the Prof would have been if someone had written the word Mohammed on the paper and stepped on it?
