The mother and aunt of accused child killer DeMarquise Kareem Elkins, 17, were arrested Tuesday morning on felony charges of making false statements to police, Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said.
Doering said they were arrested about 5 a.m.
DeMarquise Elkins and 14-year-old Dominique Lang are both charged with murder in the shooting death Thursday of 13-month-old Antonio Angel Santiago. Antonio was shot to death in a stroller that his mother Shelly West was pushing on a side street from their apartment facing Union Street in Brunswicks south end. West said the older of her assailants demanded money before shooting her in the thigh and then her child in the head.
The mother, Karimah Aisha Elkins, 36, and aunt, Katrina Latrelle Elkins, 33, were booked into the Glynn County jail before 9 a.m., said Ron Corbett, undersheriff of the Glynn County Sheriffs Office.

Oh geez, that thing is ugly.....
I’ll bet she voted under all seven of those aliases.
You can get 10 yrs for shoplifting? Wow.
She looks a whole lot like the First Mooch in her high school days
Sentenced to 10 years and serves ~14 months.
Wow, she sure learned a lesson didn’t she?
You never saw a word about this crime in the national news. A 53 year-old delivery driver was shot by three yutes in the wee hours of the morning this last Saturday.
Mr. Horton, the deceased, and his wife look like nice people just trying to make an honest living. Her statement to the press was so sad. She told that the nurse from the hospital called and said her husband had been in a terrible accident and had been shot. The wife asked where and the nurse replied, in the chest. The wife asked if he was ok and the nurse said he had died.
All three were arrested and each of the other two blame the other though all three have confessed to the killng. There is no alleged to this one. Tulsa police have said that all three are “well known to the police”. If there were any justice Tulsa Police would execute a speedy trial and execution sentence.
Get a load of the insolence in the mug shots. They think they are going to walk. Somehow I think not on this one. It will take years to kill one or more of them. I hope I live to see it.

and they recovered the gun
A family of criminals.
But you don’t have to serve it.
I don’t.
I think it is sad that we have to rely on “prison justice” for criminals to get what they deserve. I think the fact that things like that CAN happen is a disgrace.
If it were up to me, each prisoner would get a small, completely isolated cell with no decorations except a plaque telling what the prisoner is in for, and how long his sentence will be. And he would stay in there 22 hours a day, seven days a week, with small breaks for food, LIMITED exercise, and personal hygiene. There would be no books, no classes, no TVs, no radios, no computers, no cd players, no exercise machines, no personal possessions of any kind, not even mail (it would be collected after it was read). They would be fed a high-carb diet (high-tech equivalent of bread and water). Leaving his cell for any reason would be coveted privilege. The prisoner would be very safe, and very alone.
And for those who couldn’t bear the isolation, there would be a sturdy fixture in the ceiling.
MSNBC doesn’t care one way or the other about babies ~ fried, boiled, roasted ~
Still costs us too much to house the prisoners. A buddy and I came up with an Old West solution.
Take yer capital criminals and hang ‘em. One a week. From the local High School football field’s goalposts. On a Saturday. With picnic lunch served afterwards.
Local yutes would soon come to understand the personal cost of crime.
There was a somewhat similar case in Tampa where a man (Dontae Morris) murdered two police officers (plus three others) and his girlfriend (Cortnee Brantley) had withheld information regarding his true identity from the police.
She was charged and convicted for violation of 18 USC 4 - "Misprision of Felony", which is defined as follows:
Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This case is an argument to repeal the 8th Amendment, or at least to make an exception to it.
I see she is a member in good standing of Obama's Free S**t Army.
It's obvious she has been doing her part to redistribute the wealth of others and get her "fair share".
The whole family needs to be stretching rope.
I like the idea of public executions, but no picnics... Just hang them in the town square at dawn, and let the bodies dangle until sunset.
But that wouldn’t pass today’s wimpy “cruel and unusual punishment standard” any more than my isolation cells would...
