Former Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary was a key witness in Sandusky’s trial. He testified before a grand jury that in 2001 he heard sounds of a sexual nature and then saw Sandusky with a 10-year-old boy in the shower of a campus locker room. Sandusky disputed McQueary’s version of what he witnessed in the locker room.

The jury in the Sandusky trial, Victim #2, and even McQueary himself disagrees with that 2001 grand jury version.

The jury in the Sandusky trial, Victim #2, and even McQueary himself disagrees with that 2001 grand jury version

...the Sandusky jury did not disagree with anything...they failed to indict because victim #2 was not produced, thus they had no alternative...you would have us believe they had all the info laid out in front of them and then, in full possession of the facts, determined Sandusky’s innocence...the same way some make the case that the authorities ‘cleared’ Sandusky in 1999 after investigating him, when in fact no such thing happened...Gricar determined the prosecution of such an investigation unsustainable, a far cry from ‘clearing’ him...you’d think that conviction on 45 out of 47 or so counts by the jury would indicate that they fully agreed with Sandusky’s guilt, and that with even a scintilla of evidence would have convicted on #2’s charge as well, but I guess not in your case...

...I understand you might want this to go away for Penn State, but your attempt to portray the jury as sympathitic to Sandusky is utterly lame...

This statement is interesting:

Attorneys for Victim 2, the victim from the shower episode, released a statement to NBC News, saying "Jerry Sandusky is a convicted child predator giving interviews from prison. Our clients, including Victim 2, have heard enough from Jerry Sandusky. They are focused on healing and holding Penn State accountable for choosing to protect Jerry Sandusky and themselves instead of protecting children from years of horrific sexual abuse."

Since all of your clients were kids from the 2nd Mile Charity -- don't you want to hold 2nd Mile Charity accountable too???

And what about the government agencies CYS and DPW with their deep connections with the 2nd Mile Charity who knew about Sandusky early on and approved his adoptions -- don't you want to hold them accountable too???

And the corporate sponsors of 2nd Mile Charity some of whom sat on the Board like Louis Freeh's boss at MBNA -- don't you want them to be held accountable too????

A distinction without a difference.

McQueary even backed away from what the AG said were his words from the GJ Presentment.

He was acquitted of the Felony One charge regarding Victim #2.

Deal with it.

There was only one correct move for paterno to have made:

First, call the cops, tell them you have no proof, but here’s what you’ve been told, and that this man runs a charity for young boys.

...disagree...he needed to tell the AD and the President, and any other official who needed to know...which he did...what he didn’t do, and should have, was followed up with them, and kept an active interest in the matter, instead of forgetting all about it...

Next, fire Sandusky and make a statement that though everyone is innocent until proven guilty, the (as yet undisclosed at least by joe pa) charges are so morally reprehensible that this was the only choice for the team and penn state.

...disagree again...why should he have fired Sandusky without having proof against him? That might have been actionable in court, had the charges against Sandusky been dismissed, or even less heinous...again, his logical move would have been to follow up on the proceedings, with a keen interest in resolving them for the good of the program and the school, instead of sweeping everything under the rug in the hopes of maintaining the status quo...

You understand wrong.

but your attempt to portray the jury as sympathitic to Sandusky is utterly lame...

They weren't sympathetic to Sandusky. They were sympathetic to the facts and the testimony and the law. You should try it sometime.

A distinction without a difference.

...what a completely hackneyed phrase...

McQueary even backed away from what the AG said were his words from the GJ Presentment.

...really? you mean he testified at the trial that he didn’t see Sandusky and a boy in a shower engaged in inappropriate behavior of a sexual nature? I must have missed that little tidbit...

Deal with it.

...you’re just full of trite little ditties today, aren’t you?

...rather testy, aren’t we, Chip...I should try being sympathetic to facts and testimony? I believe I stated in my post to you that they had no alternative, due to lack of evidence, other to acquit Sandusky of the charge...you’re getting nonsensical now...

I’m listening to the John Ziegler on the local radio station. Apparently he spoke with Victim #2 who is now a 25 year old marine with children and speaks highly of Sandusky for helping him.

He wasn’t 10 at the time of the 2001 shower incident as the media reported but 14, and says that McQueary is lying about what he said he saw that night — that nothing inappropriate ever happened between he and Sandusky that night or any other time.

He said that he came forward at the time of the trial and spoke to the police and wrote letters to the media saying that he was the shower boy but was not victimized.

If I had been butt-raped by Sandusky; I’d lie about it too.

Why the frick was a grown man doing in the shower with a kid? I coached football. Coaches and players never showered together, and didn't even change together.

This sick POS is guilty and sin and should rot.

He made his priority bed, he lay in it, and it killed him.

Well, that and the fact that he was 83 years old and had terminal cancer.

I agree with everything you said, except, rather than fire him, you suspend him with pay and they investigate. If there becomes evidence, then you fire him and sue him, and it protects Penn State and Paterno.

Because its Paterno, he could have told the governor to do this by the book, and to make sure that no matter how it shakes out, all parties could be as transparent as possible afterward.

Now whichever office does the investigating, it would be Paterno who called for it. Nobody gets hurt and Sandusky still goes to jail.

Penn State may still get sued for not doing enough, but they might have been able to either settle, or to take them to court on it. Second Mile would be the one taking the real hit. They would have been primarily responsible for having two adults with kids at all times, never being alone with a kid, etc.

And so, Penn State will be forever known as Ped State.

Chip - was that info on V2 on Slaten? I came in late and only heard JZ criticizing Scott Paterno.

He was on the Mark Reardon Show @ KMOX Radio:

http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/station/kmox/

He apparently knows who Victim #2 is and I think has spoken with him.

And he said — and you can hear it in the NBC interview — that he wanted to talk about what he uncovered about Victim #2 but NBC cut him off.

They didn’t want him to say on the aire that he is a 25 year old marine with a family who was never abused by Sandusky that night or any night, and that he takes issue with the McQueary account.

If you’re talking about mcqueary and 2001, js was already retired. You can’t fire someone that is already retired. He retired after the 1999 season. How do so many people have so many facts about this case so screwed up? Oh...the media!
