Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
Dr. Raul was a stalwart dynamo for the conservative cause. The antithesis of an armchair warrior, Dr. Raul pounded the pavement and articulated the conservative message crisply and clearly across our land. I am a better person to have met him and witness his resolute dedication to promote patriotism and conservatism.
RIP FRiend
That’s the one thank Lancey.

AND NOW I AM GOING TO INDULGE IN A MODEST RANT
I'm both saddened, and mad, at the news. Sad, obviously, because a really good guy has left us far too soon, and mad, yes, MAD, MAD because I hadn't realized that he hadn't been posting for some time. I SHOULD have noticed, but that's because FR has changed so much these last years..and not all of it for the best, and instead, we focus on all the crapola around here....
How many really good people have dropped off, dropped out..either because of all the purges, or the endless, mind-numbing threads about Mormonism.. the mean, angry, sanctimonious tone that now so often infects this place..and the many months when FR was slow as molasses..if it worked at all.. but ask anyone who was around way back then...especially, like the good doctor, and myself..members of the GREAT class of 1998..and they'll all tell you..it's not the same..
Maybe change is inevitable..even if it sometimes sucks. Me, I just choose to ignore most of the bad, and just enjoy what is still good about this place, and some that still remain..
And I still miss Howlin...
Pardon the rant....
ELS, he was truly a person that would do for others and do without for himself. His generosity with his time to a cause or to a person is and was immeasurable.
Rest in peace.
Thank you. That is how I will remember Raoul. In a tux with a smile on his face.
I'm with you on that. As it turns out, I left out part of the quip as well. See one of Clinton is a Liar's replies. She remembered the whole thing.
Sad, I met him at Freeper MrConfettiMan’s funeral. Condolences to his family.
It's < img src="urlurlurl"> Of corse there is no space between < and img.
I agree whole-heartedly.
I never met him, but I would have liked him.
I am so sorry to hear this, he was the best. What a freeper! I will never forget his freeping, he was the best.
I am shocked too. Doctor Raoul was always there in DC and always so funny.
May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted in knowing that he was a true patriot and an invaluable member to the DC Chapter.
You'll be missed.
-Sincerely, G.
Prayers sent for Doctor Raoul and his family and loved ones.
Thanks for posting.
Any thread by, or including info about, Doctor Raoul was always a "must read" on FR.
He has been, and will forever be, missed here.
I hope his family reads this thread and all the archive threads, to see what an impact Doctor Raoul had on the life and times of FreeRepublic.
Rest In Peace Doctor Raoul.
God rest the soul of this long-time FReeper! Hate to read of losing yet another one. :(
sad...RIP
