Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
He was always a class act.
Prayers for his family. He will be missed.
Yep, still full of whizz and vinegar ;-).
Starting to feel that protesting urge again. I can’t BELIEVE what has happened to my country!
Sad to hear. I actually gasped and said “no!”. Prayers for his family and friends.

Sad indeed! RIP
Godspeed to one of the best among us.
I think it's a combination of lysdexia and sometimers merging into a new malady.
I call it ol fartiness .. except I still have a lot of my Boston accent and in English it's ol fahtiniss
sadness ping
I’m very sorry to hear this. I met him at a Freeper Christmas party here in NYC some years ago. Really nice guy. I remember that day fondly.
RIP. Prayers for him and his family.
Sad news, indeed. May others be inspired to follow his footsteps.
Kristinn just let me know Doc’s passing. Doctor Raoul was an FR icon. He was truly one of a kind. He is missed.
bttt
Who can forget the this classic announcement the Doc would say outside the exit of the Clinton Whitehouse with his megaphone?
“Ladies and Gentleman, the Whitehouse has made an announcement. Buddy the Dog is missing. In case you can’t tell the difference between Buddy and Bill Clinton, one will hump your leg, the other is a chocolate lab!”
Always got hysterical laughter from the exiting tourists.
Ouch. RIP Doctor. Met him once when you (Abner) were flying one of your balloons at the Balloon Festival in Goshen, CT. He was very nice to my kids (as were all FReepers who were there).
Thanks for the ping. Doctor Raoul was the guy in the devil suit that Hillary! complained about on the Jay Leno program during her senatorial run. Doc would wear the devil suit to protests and carry a sign saying “Bill Clinton married my sister.”
I had an exchange with him by email within the last year or two. I need to look it up. For that I will need to write a webcrawler program.
Raoul was everywhere! We didn’t know how he did it all and manage to get enough sleep. He was also generous to a fault. He went to several balloon events with us and we considered him part of our regular crew.
He would show up at the office with pizza and little toys or candy. He always had something.
Ping.
RIP.
