Obamacare has always been a stalking horse for single payer socialized medicine. The idea has been to make the private insurance market so dysfunctional that people will clamor for the government to take over health care.
While I hope that the author is right, my fear is that the same clueless electorate that elected the Zero to the White House twice will fall for whatever claptrap that the DemocRATs and the media (but I repeat myself), blame the Republicans for the Obamacare disaster, and we'll have UK-style socialized medicine.

without strong opposition from the Republicans the RATS will succeed....nuff said.

The ‘I deserve what I want and am entitled to it, no matter what, and they should just take things away from those ‘rich’ people’ crowd expects to get for free the kind of treatment and commitment from doctors that American medicine has provided in the past. They are going to be very disappointed in what they get, but ironically will be getting what they deserve.

I suspect the Dems will paint Republicans (largely in states led by Republican governors and legislatures), as being obstructionists against a law that was "legally" passed, and found Constitutional by the USSC. Dems will claim that any "implementation struggles" will be due to Red states not being compliant, and the non-compliance is an act of rebellion. Whether or not Republicans have anything to do with the implementation or not, any shortcoming will be tied to them by a complicit media.
It may be enough to win back the House.

Yeah, we heard that same story in 2012. Just wait until all the illegals get the vote. The GOP, and this country for that matter is toast.

The regime is converting the (successful) Obama campaign machine (OFA) to attack the 2014 midterms.
In 2010 I think they were very overconfident and got ambushed.
We won’t be that lucky in 2014 it will be a struggle.

Your comments are exactly what I was thinking - the problems caused by Obamacare will be spun to be blamed on the Republicans. They’ll probably say they problems were caused by the sequester.

I can’t see how obamacare can be laid at the feet of Republicans: not a single ‘Pubbie voted for it and many have continued to rail against it. The Dem Congress and Senate passed this 2700-page monstrosity without even reading it, with no idea of the far-reaching ramifications. If that doesn’t motivate voters to throw dems out of the House and Senate we truly are finished.

The Democrats may be badly misguided and ill-intentioned, but they are not stupid. They know all about what is going to happen in 2014 and planned it that way.
They also planned for their response. They won't blame the Republicans directly, at first. They will blame the health care industry and corporations first and then link them to the GOP through their political donations, with the message: "They're trying to take away your health care - stop them!" And the news media will do what they do best: echo the Democrat message endlessly while denying and suppressing the Republican response.
There will be great turmoil economically and socially next year - just as planned. Cloward and Piven wrote the script, folks, so you ought to know where this is going: an orchestrated "public outcry" for the government to "do something" - namely, to take over the entire health care industry.
And that's when the pot comes to a full boil.

Other chaos will abound. Consumers trying to get their insurance from a state exchange will have to hand their Social Security Number and 15 pages of financial and family information to exchange assisters temps often hired from community groups. In California, civil-rights activists are fighting to prevent background checks for would-be assisters because it would disqualify too many minority men with prior convictions. How lovely. The very same people who sought US Census jobs are going to be the new government snitches.
