I’ve heard of Miss Lenard. I didn’t even know what her race was. The problem is that Lamar! isn’t naive on campaigning. He has already declared for reelection and made sure to get virtually every heavy hitter in the state behind him. You’ve got all these people spewing pro-Lamar! talking points, ignoring the fact he was rated the 6th most liberal Republican in the Senate. This isn’t Maine. This is a hyper-Republican and Conservative state now. We should be represented by someone in the top 5 most Conservative, not the bottom.

Unfortunately, even if Miss Lenard could match Lamar! dollar for dollar, our open primary and no runoff allows Democrat chicanery to put the most liberal RINO nominee forward. Until that changes and we also institute a pre-primary convention (a la Utah) to weed out RINOs and liberals, it’s going to remain exceptionally difficult to bounce Lamar! and Corker.

I don’t know about conventions, sounds like something the paulbots could take over.

But closed primaries are absolutely needed, runoffs as well. With rat primaries being rather trivial in TN now crossovers figure to be an increasing problem.
