Jerusalem, Israel --- March 24, 2013 Russian media sources have confirmed that Syria President Bashar Assad was shot by an Iranian bodyguard Saturday night.
"The lone assassination pumped several bullets at point blank range into Assad," said the source. "Assad was rushed to Al-Shami Hospital in Damascus in critical condition. He died on the operating table from heart failure resulting from massive blood loss."
An Israeli security analyst believes the report to be accurate.
"In the last 24 hours have we seen Assad? Any photographs or video? No. Nor will we see any as loyalists who are closest to Assad have been threatened if any leaked photos or reports reach Western media. Iran is attempting to take control of the Syrian army and its wealth of weapons as Syrian solders are now deserting in mass. I don't believe that the West will allow any Iranian control of Damascus."
"There was a reason why Barack Obama visited Israel. And it was not for a photo op with Miss Israel. I don't think Netanyahu would apologize to Turkey or to anyone. But if was between a dead Assad and saying sorry to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan I think there was no hesitation in making that telephone call to Ankara."
The Israeli analyst said that several events have taken place in the last 24 hours including the Syrian army shooting at an Israeli border patrol unit. It is believed that this action was coordinated by Assad loyalists who stood outside the dead President's hospital room to deflect the global media from the assassination and to pull Israel into a war with the Syrian army. The leader of the Western-backed Syrian opposition coalition announced he was resigning.

Maybe he doesn't have any friends.
LOL ... you gonna be very disappointed.
When it comes to psych warfare and disinformation, the Israelis are at the top of their game right now.
An important key to Israel’s survival has been dividing its enemies. Spreading this kind of info will dishearten and divide their enemies.
An Iranian shot Assad??????
That kind of spin will make the average Syrian soldier distrust the Iranians assisting and or training them in fighting the rebels.
It does not matter how the deal was accomplished. The end result is all that matters. We now will have WMD shells firing all over the Middle East. Either by the Islamic terrorists who recently fired a chlorine gas shell that killed 26 or by the Syrian Army regulars that are fighting for survival. Major cluster puck. Russia will send in troops. Iran is sending in troops. And how are we prepared ? With long trains of military vehicles still stuck in the SW desert ?
Yeah, that’s the first place I checked as well. Like the Chavez rumors, it’s likely to eventually be true, just not today.
You’d almost think there was something of value, some resource in Syria we don’t know about. Rare earths or something.
Can't. They put his corpse in a row boat and dumped him into a pond.
Have been reading some reports mentioning death to anyone in Assadâs inner circle speaking with western media or giving out any information concerning Assad. Going hmmmmm.... and still cannot confirm anything.
Sorry about that at post #67. Was not aware ... was not allowed.
I’m going to put up some Google articles on this.

After looking at these and others, I would say there is a fair chance he is dead or injured, but not really confirmed.
If he is gone, then we can expect chaos followed by bloodshed. If he is still there, bloodshed followed by chaos. This underlines the vast significance of this event or non-event.

Syria is just the current flash point where the two sects of Islam are meeting head to head. Having a little disagreement shall we say. The only reason the EU and the US are there is because the Sunni Royals demand such. My guess is the reason the Russians and Chinese are there is because the Shitte leaders demand such. Of course it helps that there are riches in resources and historically rich heritage sites in the area.
The Israelis will start bombing anything they suspect is WMD and heading toward Lebanon or Israel.
Turkish and Nato troops stationed along the Turkish border will head into Syria to secure WMD sites and support rebels.
Iranians will fly in as many troops as they can. Non-stop. Some overground movement through Iraq may be done.
Russians will land their marines stationed offshore to evacuate citizens and secure key Russian installations. They will also begin flying in as many troops as possible.
Obama will get a Blackberry message about the situation. He cannot respond because he is currently 3 under par.
Syria dismisses Bashar al-Assad assassination claims
The Syrian government dismissed the reports and blamed social media sites like Twitter and Facebook for allowing the rumour to spread. An official told Russia Today: "It's not true. Definitely it's not... It's ridiculous. And he [Assad] doesn't have an Iranian bodyguard." Media who picked up on the story should feel "shame".
Wasn’t this the same source that reported that big, honking explosion at an Iranian nuke site that was never confirmed by any other source?
Maybe it was Assad who started the rumor to flush out someone or embolden the rebels to do something stupid.
OK, I’ll tell you again. They have been a loyal and dependable ally since the Korean war. They have supplied their airfield(I’ve served there)at Adana, Turkey to the US and other Nato allies. That base is Incirlic, and it is strategically vital to access the entire middle East and during the cold war it was the base of operations for U2 surviellance of the Southern Soviet Union. The US lost their main middle east Air Base, Wheelus Air Base at Tripoli, Libya
When Gadaffi staged his coup on King Idris. I also served there. You’re welcome.
