Florida Atlantic University has issued an apology for a classroom assignment that involving students writing the name “Jesus” on a sheet of paper and then stomping on the paper. The university also said the lesson will never again be used.
“We sincerely apologize for any offense this has caused,” the university said in a prepared statement. “Florida Atlantic University respects all religions and welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.”
The university initially defended the Christ-bashing lesson which is included textbook titled, “Intercultural Communication: A Contextual Approach, 5th Edition.”
Fox News obtained a synopsis of the lesson taught by Deandre Poole, who also happens to be vice chair of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party.
“Have the students write the name JESUS in big letters on a piece of paper,” the lesson reads. “Ask the students to stand up and put the paper on the floor in front of them with the name facing up. Ask the students to think about it for a moment. After a brief period of silence instruct them to step on the paper. Most will hesitate. Ask why they can’t step on the paper. Discuss the importance of symbols in culture.”
Ryan Rotela, a devout Mormon, was in the classroom and refused to participate — telling television station WPEC that the assignment was insulting and offensive.
“They’re lucky the instructor didn’t have them write “Muhammad” on a piece of paper and stomp on it.
They would have had a jihad on their campus within hours. “

The name being “Obama” or even “Michelle Obama” would have been much more interesting!
Almost straight from C.S. Lewis’ “That Hideous Strength”. The iconoclastic winnowing of the faithless at university level to serve the “Head”. A prescient novel dealing with the unholy melding of progressive academics and authoritarian government. Sounds like the instructor is a talent scout for the progressive machine, identifying those of faith, marking them for further attention and greater attempts to either corrupt or destroy them. The stompers get good grades and move to the next level.

A classic non-appology apology. They didn't say "we're sorry we were so offensive". They are saying, "we're sorry you were offended".
Also reminiscent of the ‘Two Minutes Hate’ from 1984.

Everything is a symbol in this country. What if someone wrote gay “marriage” on a paper and stomped on it? Or a name dear to death cult members? Or the name of the current occupant of the oval office?
The outrage would be overwhelming.
The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

All these people should lose their jobs and the ripple should flow through all of thuggish, Godless academia.
I’m thinking that if I had been in that classroom, I would have first complained before the class had any chance to participate and then I would have written Mo’s name and offered it to the instructor to stomp on. Probably would have been tossed out at that point.
No; this fella was NOT the only one to fail to stomp!
