The Department of Homeland Security responded Friday to questions from Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., about why the agency was allegedly planning to buy some 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next five years.
DHS told Whispers it regularly fills all of its goods and services requirements at one time because it's cheaper for the agency, and that the 1.6 billion number was misleading because the language of DHS's purchase said it would need "up to" a certain amount.
One solicitation by the agencyfor training centers and law enforcement personnelwas for "up to" 750 million rounds of training ammunition over the next five years, DHS spokesman Peter Boogaard told Whispers.

Another five-year contract allows for the purchase of "up to" 450 million rounds of ammunition, he said, and was also for law enforcement. Boogaard noted that the contract would be used by all DHS agencies except the Coast Guard.

FWIW...On a related topic, I drove past the Armalite and Rock River Arms plants on Wednesday and the parking lot at both facilities was over-flowing with cars, even out onto the street at Armalite. There were no signs at either facility with their name on it. It was sad to see a legal mfg facility have to hide in plain site like that.
There, fixed it.
Yeah, there are a few good youtubes showing them in training. These MRAPs are not for “hostage rescue.” Anyway, the FBI (remember those passed-over clerks and accountants?) already has the HRT.
These are for assault, straight on, with fully armored troops on each running board, behind swing-out armor plate “wings.”
No hostages will be rescued with that tactic. The DHS MRAPs are stromtrooper delivery platforms, period. Behind and over them will be SRT snipers.
Wonder what they have in mind? A Waco a week?
In Chile, resourceful defenders of capitalism stopped Allende’s henchmen with boxes of nails scattered on the roads. Even with all that armor those vehicles have their weaknesses.
Yes it does.
I’ve done a couple of federal contracts but most of mine are state contracts. We’re talking blanket PO’s and I have been awarded several over the years. The PO is only good up to that amount once it’s reached a new PO must be issued or they can ask for an extension. While that may sound good I’ve also had some where they never made a purchase. The key to looking at this is how many if any purchases have they made on this or any other PO.
To the best of your knowledge, has the FBI HRT ever actually rescued an hostage?
Strictly speaking, it’s the Hague Convention of 1899.
Yes. Consider if this were presented as a consolidated PO over four years for ALL federal agencies. Would the amount he concerning? Or would we be praising someone in Government purchasing for finally using their heads and consolidating purchasing of common tools.
I do not know the particulars.
Just the term “Homeland” makes me feel a little queasy. From the first time Bush said it, it felt a little Orwellian or Stalinist.
I was in procurement for over 45 years, and I can't ever recall placing a purchase order for an "up to" amount.
Like i care about whether our government follows international law. Anyway, these particular purchases weren’t for our military.
NYPD and Empire State Building came to mind when I read that...what was it, 11 people shot? 9? Everybody but the target.
But a smart move I think.
Powerful pic.

Reducing nuke stockpile. Internal security forces - ie "we need a civilian military AS STRONG as ou military". Cutting regular military down - a sizeable part of which is operating under UN command or fulfilling UN objectives. Disarming citizens. The latest UN small arms treaty crap. Destroying the last superpower by killing the economy and creating economic crises by printing money like water. Getting ready to Cyprus our 401k's into "government bonds" and private bank savings into "stock/equity in the bank" your money's in - worse than FDIC-insured. Not far fetched as he hates America, walked around for months with the Post-America book he was reading, has all national intelligence assets looking at anyone who is "anti-government" (anti-Obama) as a threat. (And in case you didn't know, Freedom From War, the UN treaties do not allow civillians to remain armed - which means confiscation, by force if necessary.)
Do not think they will not take your supplies as well, as these emergency orders will also allow them to take any of your property they need. Once they disarm you it won't be hard.
This is what it's all about. In its "Second Annual Report to Congress" (February 1963), the ACDA presented a simple graphic depiction (see top of next page) demonstrating its proposed three-stage disarmament process:
