Earlier this week at the PyCon conference (the largest annual gathering for developers using the open-source Python programming language) a woman named Adria Richards overheard a joke between two men sitting behind her during a crowded presentation.

Richards was offended and took a picture of the two men who were making jokes. She tweeted, "Not cool. Jokes about forking repo's in a sexual way and "big" dongles. Right behind me #pycon." She also attached a photo of the two people making the jokes.

Imagine the response if they discussed that scenario and mentioned the term ‘fork bomb’. She might have had a stroke.

Beavis and Butthead wanted to be overheard, usually people who do things like this take great pride in annoying others. Others came for a conference they can’t hear over the farting from those 2.

First rule of Social Media, make sure nobody knows which company you work for, because it will get back to them.

The guy on the right looks like Jonathon Frakes from Star Trek. When he grew his beard of course.

‘If the little Nazi didn’t get a release from those men to publish their photos, wouldn’t they be able to sue her?”

Yep. Defamation. Slander. False light. (depending on what state they are in)

I’d sue in a heartbeat, for subjecting me to national ridicule, making me a notorious figure, and causing me to lose my job.’

I would have my lawyers after her, her company, the venue, and her pet groomer.
These runaway, uninvestigated, unverified rumors stemming from eavesdropping and obvious invasion of privacy need to have consequences.

When my kids were getting on the social network sites in the early years I warned them to PLEASE be careful what you put on the web. I told them that some things could come back and prevent them from being hired and they would never know why they were rejected. I have never joined ANY of these things. Ugh!

I once got called out by Human Resources when some woman in a cube near mine heard me talking to the Help Desk about my (computer) mouse, which wasn't working.

Apparently she thought that my reference to my "mouse" was code language for my penis.

The company gave me the full Star Chamber routine for nearly four months before they let me off the hook.

The rest of my time at the company I never trusted anybody at work.

True story. Pity.

I concur. I think all 3 were less than professional, but that none of the 3 should have been fired. Although, her actions did more to bring her employer into the mix.

I resent women like this. They’re ruining the tech field.

From similar experience with other radical feminists looking to make their mark in tech, your way is the best way to handle it..

After a few years, these women start to wonder why no one will work with them, on their product, etc.

Um, no, that’s not all she did. She wrote up a rather detailed rant on her blog.
