Earlier this week at the PyCon conference (the largest annual gathering for developers using the open-source Python programming language) a woman named Adria Richards overheard a joke between two men sitting behind her during a crowded presentation.
Richards was offended and took a picture of the two men who were making jokes. She tweeted, "Not cool. Jokes about forking repo's in a sexual way and "big" dongles. Right behind me #pycon." She also attached a photo of the two people making the jokes.

When you have to continually watch what you say in order to avoid offending a female co-worker or subordinate, the temptation is to minimize the number of female co-workers you have to watch out for. The feminists don't realize how badly their perpetually-offended attitude will eventually bite them.
I think the most gratifying thing about the whole business for me was learning that for women like her, there is no solidarity or “sisterhood.” The sisterhood in that office actually turned against her.
I suppose it would have been even better if that encounter in the restaurant had found her to be waiting tables ...
“She tried to be friendly. I said nothing!”
Should’ve told her to eat sh!t.
Invasion of the Humorless!
She would have found a way to create trouble. It's best to just say nothing. Don't even acknowledge her existence when she talks to you. Don't even make eye contact. It makes it ten times worse for her.
What is wrong with this world?
Reminds me of a joke about a file which I can't post here.
I didn't see it in the definition but I always thought dongles were also the cables from a power supply.
A few days later I was advised that I was accused of sexual harassment in the form of inappropriate touching during work? I was flabbergasted. I had to sign a written statement in which I categorically denied all charges.
Management was required to conduct a investigation because of the nature of the charges
The rest of the crew were interviewed and the basic response was they never saw anything inappropriate in word or deed and couldn’t figure what all this was about. The work site was in full public view at all times and you never were alone with any one person.
I was further grilled by a management team as to my side of the story. At this point I was PO’ed but kept my cool. One of the spineless managers suggested I apologize in the interests of keeping the peace. I refused and said I would never apologize for something I never did. I was advised they would continue to look into it and let me know what they decided on.
I later mentioned the situation to another co-worker. This fellow happened to be gay and he immediately came up with my
accusers name and said she had accused him of the same thing only in his case the managers thought it was humorous and ridiculous on the face of it.
I later found out she was trying to get promoted and had accused numerous people of sexual harassment. It looked like her plan was to make management afraid to deny her a promotion lest she accused them of sexual harassment
She was sent back to her sector and I never worked with her again. All reports at my work site of various harassment and improprieties ceased.
So I was a twenty something before sexual harassment nazis took over and an executive came up behind me in a meeting and wrapped his hands around my boobs. I elbowed him hard and ran out. It was only he and me in the meeting.
So I told some older professional women what happened and they talked it over with the male boss and other guys who knew what happened to me. I was the youngest in the office and the man was old enough to be my dad. The men wanted to go punch his lights out. That is what men did to perverts back then. But the professional women had a different idea.
They decided they would handle the perv by highlighting his super sexiness. So in came the squash arrangements with little plums situated just right as the center piece of every meeting he had. They would make “sexy”, totally inappropriate comments and grab his butt. The men would laugh at his discomfort. Everyone knew what it was about. They had sexy pet names for him that they put on formal correspondence that was widely distributed.
He got a new job or retired pretty quickly (can’t remember which). It was so boring when he left.
That was one of my first thoughts. I was hoping that she was a waitress there, and had to be pleasant to people because her JOB depended upon it. Anyway, it ended as it should have.
LOL -Affirmative Action and being 'offended' are two of the most used methods of advancement employed by useful idiots that would otherwise be relegated to the back bench.
21st Century American Woman 101.
You can bet your bottom Canadian penny that the common female bahaviour such as identified here is, uh, unknown, or in any event disregarded as a social phenomena by the gender studies “scientists” at every American university.
> She was sent back to her sector and I never worked with her again.
I wish that you could write that she never worked again.
People like that should be summarily FIRED on the first offense and given bad job references to assure they don’t burn anybody else.
“From the moment I left that meeting, I actually started a shunning campaign much like the one you’ve described. She was just trouble.”
I used to work at a large company - had a gal just like that. I could tell she was bad news from the start when they hired her and would be VERY short in any conversations and to the point (she was our secretary so had to deal with her). Yes she was cute and dress nice and flirt, but it was just too much. A year later she ended up having a quick affair with my boss, sued, etc. Boss lost his job, etc.
Well yeah, I had to deal with this one too — for the last few weeks before she quit, I was her boss. When she first found out I was the new team supervisor, she tried breaking the ice. It didn’t work. I almost laughed.
All communication was very short, it was strictly business related, and I was trying to give her a case of frostbite every time she heard my voice.
When I joined that company, emotionally I was still in high school. By the time I left a couple years later I was about 40.
“FWIW the most completely disgusting sexual banter wasnt when I worked in the all male field. It was when I worked in a completely female office environment. O. M. G. The guys I worked with would have had to take lessons on gross and insulting personal discussions from the sweetest looking little 30 something former sorority chicks.”
I’ve been in the same situation. It was shocking and graphically more repulsive than anything I’ve ever heard said from guys.
“Anyone who files a frivolous complaint or lawsuit needs to be shunned by everyone decent. “
I knew a woman once who filed a frivolous sexual harassment suit and accepted a token settlement from the company.
After that no one in town would hire her and she had to move out of state for a job.
OK, let me guess.
