What I'm about to post probably sounds "ig-nant" but there you go. Please edify me. Stupid is as stupid is....

Post a flame if you wish, but don't make it really harsh! I've already lost one post (user error) this morning and it may show up in this thread. Haven't taken any meds yet. Tumeric is so good!

Does Hebrew still have, or even have had, words that contain no vowels?

In Wales, there are many words which still have no vowels.

Really, if you must flame, please do it lightly and with some compassion!

Biblical Hebrew did not have *written* vowels or punctuation, so the text very naturally lends itself to variant readings with different shades of meaning.

The relatively recent Masoretic text does NOT fix meaning but rather standardizes reading aloud, which is important for liturgical purposes.

that's the prononciation of the words, those are not really without vowels

I'll give you an example from Polish -- how do you read the word szczęśliwy? sounds crazy if you read it in English -- how to pronounce szcz? But sz is prounced like "sh" in sheep and cz is pronounced like "ch" in cheese

It's the same in Welsh

also Welsh is a Celtic language and Celtic languages are a sub-family of the larger Indo-European language tree.

Semitic languages like Hebrew are a different family tree.

Also, racially while both Semites and Indo-Europeans are Caucasians, there is a difference between Semites and Indo-Europeans (as between Indo-Europeans and Dravidians, say)
