However youre counting the numbers, they hurt.
JCPenney revealed in a regulatory filing yesterday that it finished its fiscal year ended Feb. 2 with 116,000 employees a whopping 43,000 less than a year earlier.
Thats a slashing of 27 percent even steeper than the companys disastrous revenue decline of 24.8 percent for the same period.
Its also more than twice the figure of 19,000 job cuts that Chief Executive Ron Johnson testified to under oath earlier this month, when asked during the companys trial with Macys and Martha Stewart how many Penney employees had lost their jobs on his watch.

That was it for me. I was not too pleased about the “nothing ever on sale” strategy, had been there a couple times looking for clearance racks, etc., (which is how I shop). But then later, when they put out the gay ads, I decided I would not go back for any reason, and have not gone since.
Did you buy the sheets there or go on to another source?
There is a JCP not far from my house and I have shopped there many times in the past. I'm aware there are other factors that have caused it's decline but I also know that the large number of Christian families in this and their refusal to shop there is a direct result of the gay ads.
I did buy them, but I was sort of disappointed.
The last set I bought from there was 1000 thread count egyptian cotton, and I really liked those. So comfortable.
The highest available thread count this time was a mere 400, and they were Cindy friggin’ Crawford sheets...but I do suppose that is better than say Martha Stewart sheets >_>
Overall I am satisfied with them, but next time I’ll likely shop elsewhere for a higher thread count.
Looks like the "0bama Recovery" is right on schedule.
Ellen Degenerates has an audience of around 3.5 million viewers.
JCP has 1,100 stores.
So she potentially has around 3,000 viewers/shoppers per store which isn’t enough people to replace the people who have stopped shopping there because of her.
And of course, her viewers don’t even shop at JCP, so the 3,000 viewers/shoppers per store isn’t even realistic.
I was amazed that a coworker of mine liked Ellen Degenerate. I found out when I complained about her show being on a restaurant’s idiot box at lunch.
The cure was to take a seat facing away from the boob tube.
I think Wyatt’s Torch was stating a fact, not promoting faggotry.
Let Ellen and her degenerates keep J.C. Penneys afloat. Oh, they can't because they are incapable of reproducing and only make up 3-5% of the entire country? Too bad, sucks to be them. Perverse Penneys made their bed and chose their side, now they can lay in it.
BINGO! We have a winnah, give that man a Cupie Doll for “connecting the dots” and coming up with the answer to WHY Perverse Penneys is going down the toilet.
Ditto for me an my extended circle of family and friends. Penney's was once my staple for housewares and clothing, but not since 2011. They've lost probably $1,000's of my money. Multiply that by $1,000's more for this very reason and you get the picture.
Have homos, Will unravel !
The Founder a good and decent man also a Christian from what I’ve read. He sure didn’t deserve to have his business he founded bearing & his name ran into the ground like this.
Yeah, but how much were you really going to buy at Penney's anyway? I know for us, pretty much anything we'd have bought at JCP twenty years ago, we now buy at BJ's, Costco, Target, or Walmart when we're doing the grocery shopping or else we'll stay home altogether and get it on the internet. Unfortunately for stores at the JCP price point, the business model is a dying one.
I think Kohls has had some success because of their location in strip malls, the easy front of the store registers, and their extended hours (when compared to a traditional mall store).
I agree with your thesis.
That segment of retail is shrinking fairly quickly and some of the weak must die.
JCP will join Circuit City, Woolworth, Service Merchandise, etc in the graveyard of retailers.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sears there too along with corp sibling KMart.
I never shopped at BJ’s, Target, or Walmart or Kohl’s. I did shop at Costco but that ended years ago. Both the wife and I both shopped at JCP so I would say we spent quite a bit there over the years. No more.
LMAO! Good grief what a ridiculously stupid comment...
Stop pointing out facts...it’s just confuses the people who have an agenda not based in reality.
Exactly. Thank you. I’m not a fan of hers. I just don’t think she is funny. But her show has huge ratings which is a fact. So her sow has huge ratings and making millions from advertising yet JCP is ailing because she is their spokesperson. Seems logically consistent...
Your way of life is not normal.
