White and Wrong in Philly (Selwyn Duke)
American Thinker ^ | March 21, 2013 | Selwyn Duke

When your article inspires a big-city mayor to refer your case to a "human-relations commission," you know you've hit a nerve. And when that article is the recent "Being White in Philly" piece by liberal Robert Huber, you know it doesn't take much truth to hit that nerve.

That's the scary part. Huber's article contains mostly tepid examples of whites' negative experiences with blacks and primarily black neighborhoods, such as a Philadelphia resident whose grill was stolen from her backyard but "blames herself" for not fencing it in. Its tone is basically apologetic, absolving a drug dealer of responsibility because he was just "trying to get by" and describing the US' racial history as "horrible and daunting." Yet this wasn't good enough for Mayor Michael Nutter and his comrades. They still want Huber silenced.

Oh, they won't get what they want...at least not exactly and not yet. But, nonetheless, writes Philly.com, "In a scathing letter, Mayor Nutter last week requested that the Philadelphia Human Relations Commission consider whether the magazine and Huber deserved to be rebuked for the article." Why is this significant? Well, when we hear about Englishmen, Canadians, Australians, Swedes, or other Westerners being imprisoned or fined for criticizing Islam or homosexuality -- yes, this does happen -- guess what the instruments of their oppression are.

Human-relations commissions.

Of course, they're usually called "human-rights" commissions, and the entities that actually judge those charged with "hate speech" are called "tribunals." And they have proliferated in the West. You can bet your state has one, and your county may, too. But, no, you won't be silenced by them -- at least not exactly and not yet. We have that pesky thing called the First Amendment (for now).

But Huber certainly was rebuked. In a Monday panel discussion moderated by the...

Philadelphia is a sh*t hole.

If you absolutely MUST be there for work, then, by all means, live in the Western suburbs and commute.

It’s a problem, this derision of whites by blacks

In the near future, Philly, unfortunately, will reach a point like Atlanta and Detroit where the cause of the epic failure of a truly great American city can only be attributed to contemporary black culture.
This is obvious, blatantly obvious. The sooner the remaining whites take their tax paying selves to suburban jurisdictions and leave the cities to rot,
the better.

You’re right; it is a dump. I imagine the mayor was angry about the article because it revealed what many cities are trying to cover up (because it may scare away new businesses and residents): that they have black people there. Remember the police bombing the MOVE headquarters there years ago? Even that was sanitized because the man who ordered the bombing was black.

Living next to Newark NJ, I can tell you that the article was the most inoffensive piece, obviously designed to obscure the worst parts of The Truth to be diplomatic.

“The sooner the remaining whites take their tax paying selves to suburban jurisdictions and leave the cities to rot, the better.”

Here in NJ they just place the burden on the county, so you may have to move a bit further (I don’t know much about the Philly area). Because the property taxes were capped at 2% here, a lot of city cops lost their jobs in our worst toilets (Newark, Paterson, Camden).

About 68% of all property taxes in New Jersey go to the schools, and of that sum of substantial money (and that is a lot), approximately 35% goes to the "Abbot Districts."

Abbott districts are school districts in New Jersey that are provided remedies to ensure that their students receive public education in accordance with New Jersey’s state constitution. They were created in 1985 as a result of the first ruling of Abbott v. Burke, a case filed by the Education Law Center. The ruling asserted that public primary and secondary education in poor communities throughout the state was unconstitutionally substandard.[1] There are 31 "Abbott districts" in the state, which are now referred to as "SDA Districts" based on the requirement for the state to cover all costs for school building and renovation projects in these districts under the supervision of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.[2] Prior to 2011, the State of NJ did not release the total amount spent per pupil on schooling. Since the Abbott original ruling in 1985, New Jersey increased spending such that Abbott district students received 22% more per pupil (at $20,859) vs. non-Abbott districts (at $17,051) in 2011. [3] Although key proponents of the measures express optimism that continued spending will eventually help advance students performance, middle and high school students have not improved. For them, the program has been characterized as "a huge failure".[4]

So here is the translation:

- people in the hard working NJ suburbs who struggle to keep their jobs, their homes, and their communities from falling into disrepair pay the highest property taxes in the nation so that primarily minority districts in the state can get Billions of dollars doled out to them in a scam.

You can drive by schools in "Abbott Districts" and see NFL stadium lights and AstroTurf playing fields for their Junior Varsity football teams. Meanwhile, the primarily white districts in other parts of the school have had their funds stolen from them and the very homes that have paid the property taxes.

The NJ Courts have upheld this Stalinesque decision time, and time again.

This is nothing but a racial scam, and gutter racial politics at its worst.

If Huber's weak, insipid article provokes this degree of denunciation, one wonders what a real hard hitting truthful report of the mean streets would bring?

no way Palio,
I’m going to sell off my countryside home and move my family to Philly so we can take advantage of high crime, and a populace that looks upon me and mine as “white devils”.

You’re right; it is a dump.

It's much cheaper to house people that can't swing owing an automobile in nuclear target zones.

I live just north of one of the Hudson County Abbott districts (Harrison); there are few blacks there, but it has a huge Hispanic population (30 years ago it was mostly white). I know a white couple that stayed there because they have a special-needs child, and the Abbott districts have money to burn to accommodate them. Other districts there have some white residents who simply avoid the public schools like the plague.

While there are some racial indicators on the map, I believe this is a lot more about class than race. It is simply widespread wealth re-distribution, and it has cost us a lot of taxpayers (we lost an electoral vote after the last census) and businesses (which are a boon to Pennsylvania). Obama has to nationalize his communism because Red/Dem states are reeling under the exodus of productive people coupled with the influx of unproductive (or at least untaxed) illegal aliens and the run-of-the-mill mutli-generational welfare parasites.

That’s a good way to put it; welfare reform was to cut into their numbers, though (because they still have to be fed, warehoused in schools, and “policed” to protect the productive people they might molest).

Blacks need to wake up and get a clue. Whatever their leadership is doing, it ain’t working.

Try rejecting divisional politics and the “keepin’ it real” black dogma.

Either embrace traditional, conservative American culture or just blame whitey and let the downward spiral continue and intensify.

The black problem... what a drag on society, both fiscally and emotionally.

That's the major divide in this nation. The “post-modernists” who consider the Constitution and the BOR to be an impediment to the creation of their progressive socialist utopia,

And the rest of us. Many of whom will go to guns before we surrender and get on the FEMA bus to a reeducation camp.

The old NJ joke is “Which exit?” (Off I-95).

The better question is why any producer wouldn’t get on 95 and drive south at least to the Carolinas, and never return.

I left SoCal for North Florida that way.

You don't want to be anywhere in NJ on this day.

Or anywhere near a city.
