New Jersey police and Dept. of Children and Families officials raided the home of a firearms instructor and demanded to see his guns after he posted a Facebook photo of his 11-year-old son holding a rifle.
Someone called family services about the photo, said Evan Nappen, an attorney representing Shawn Moore. It led to an incredible, heavy-handed raid on his house. They wanted to see his gun safe, his guns and search his house. They even threatened to take his kids. Moore was not arrested or charged.
This is the Facebook photo that led to the police raid. A Dept. of Children and Families spokesperson told Fox News they could not confirm or deny an investigation or raid had taken place due to government regulations.
The department has a child abuse hotline for the state of New Jersey and anybody can make a call to that hotline, spokesperson Kristen Brown said. We are required to follow up on every single allegation that comes into the central registry.
The story was first reported by The Blaze.
Moore, of Carneys Point, is a certified firearms instructor for the National Rifle Association, an NRA range safety officer and a New Jersey hunter education instructor.
He recently posted a photograph of his son wearing camouflage and holding his new .22 rifle. The child has a New Jersey hunting license and recently passed the states hunter safety course...

Uh, Mz. Stupid Ho Obama Voter, maam? I'd have to review the law in question, but I'm reasonably certain it doesn't mandate that you violate the fourth and fifth amendments every time you get an unsolicited and unverified tip. So actually, I guess that "statement" you just made was in reality just a case of oxygen theft on your part then, huh? Since it contained absolutely NO justification for the events you were being asked about?
good posts! gotta keep them Gov’t jobs even if it means lies to gin up a flagging caseload and bored policemen conducting a SWAT style raid instead of simply calling the man down to the police station to clear it up. He should sue their butts off!
Yes, he should. If the incident is referenced in the future, having won even a token settlement would be a great rebuttal to whomever brought up the incident.
AMENDMENT IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
AFAIK, they came to his door and asked questions. They did not have a warrant and did not force entry. They went away when he refused to cooperate with their enquiry.
Saying they "raided the home" seems a little over-excited.
What is the penalty for false allegations?
Joe no one is kicking you off of Free Republic for your copyright violations nor for any other reason. However there are a list of copyright rules here on Free Republic, which are posted to help everyone understand the serious implications a copyright infringement lawsuit could have on Free Republic.
No disrespect to any Poster is intended nor implied whenever a Mod has to remove copyright violating photos or posts. All volunteer mods are attempting to do is prevent publishers, and in particular, those publishers who have threatened Free Republic in the past, from filing expensive copyright infringement lawsuits against Free Republic.
Unfortunately the photo you uploaded to the photo-hosting site imgur and then posted here, which you attributed the photo to CBS News, coincidentally is also attributed as an Associated Press photo on the same CBS news site itself.
Associated Press allows only excerpted material, properly attributed and linked material to be posted on Free Republic.

Sadly there is no penalty for even false allegations when it come to child abuse.
But that still doesnt mean the police and Child services can braek the law as they did in this case.
They almost kidnapped a kid.
He MUST sue the officers, the Child Services and their supervisors.
No doubt they have broken laws in the past as well.
All previous cases of any involved need to be reexamined.
In the original post on the fun message board, this dad explained his actions when the thugs broke into his home. He came home and put his phone into the first officer’s face he saw, with his attorney on the end of the line. Those officers got the hell it of the house immediately. They wouldn’t I’d themselves or anything. He was on the ball.
A perfect tool for political groups to use against parents who think the wrong way
I do not object to you doing your job and interpreting the rules. However, you did bounce me off of the site so that I had to log in again. What’s up with that?

There should be a taped recording of EVERY single office that responded to that call somewhere in the police depts. records. That is the evidence need. Additionally, there should also be a “log” of which CPA was the also there.
I’m not a lawyer but, I would get access to those records and then start my lawsuits. This might make the home owner a bit of nice change from the city coffers. Where’s a “GOOD” lawyer when ya need one?
They intimidated his wife while he was gone to gain entry. The Family Protected Services types often lie to gain entry. He had to have his lawyer on the line to force them out of the house.
They threatened to take his children if he did not comply with their demands.
This is hardly “they went away when he refused to cooperate with their enquiry.
This is they tried every immoral and unethical ploy to enforce their will without absolutely and clearly violating the law.
They knew this, and the “social worker” ran from having her picture taken and would not giver her name.

My kids all can handle a real AR15 and other rifles, and I did have a Facebook account, but no more as it has morphed into nothing more than a very successful socialized monitoring and intel gathering website being used by those with power to disrupt Americans and the restrictions of Liberty.
Hitler would have had wet dreams 24/7 if he had Facebook in his day. Or Stalin, or Mussolini.
the ONLY suggestions I have about Facebook is to use it for misleading propaganda, feed it false intel, use it when we need to mislead the domestic enemies in America. That is when it can be a very goot tool.
How many times has this poor family’s home been raided in the past three days? At least a dozen times from what I’ve read on FR...
Agreed — I am slowly coming around to getting off my FB, or just severely restricting whom I post to.
WHOM among this man’s so-called “friends” turned him in? Or did Facebook operatives turn him in? It’s too easy for pictures to circulate where they aren’t supposed to.
it could have been just some democrat who randomly happened to see his facebook while looking for prey as democrats do
