The young man in the photo is the 11-yr-old son of Shawn Moore. The gun is a .22 rifle, a copy of the AR-15, but a 22 caliber. The photo was posted on Facebook by a proud father. That Facebook posting apparently triggered an anonymous call to New Jerseys Department of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). On Friday night, March 15th, two representatives from the states social services office (along with four local police officers) came to the Moore home and demanded to see the familys firearms.
According to Moores lawyer, Evan Nappen (an attorney with considerable expertise in NJs very strict gun laws), the situation was outrageous.

Finger’s off the trigger. Dad taught him well.
“This is what is comin down the pike for us who continue to live in fascist states. Elect a constitutional sheriff in your county and this won’t happen.
What I noticed most of all, was the fear, in that poor childs’ eyes. Unrelenting. Hard to imagine.
I don’t have Facebook (like you said, someone could create one if they wanted to)
for safety I put my name on just about nothing online.
I did not like the lack of privacy of the web, back in 1995 or 96 when I first went online and at that time I decided to keep it as private as possible.
of course I understand completely that a government agency can track just about anything, but no sense in giving anyone a free ride....
“...STAY OFF OF FACEBOOK!!!!”

That was my first thought as well.
Kids today will pay for posting pics of them being drunk and idiotic; people have lost jobs over this. There is no privacy anymore. Don’t give it away....
Exactly!
Personally, I love that picture (that boy is a cutie), and I can understand why the father would want to share it. But why not just print it out and mail it to your family? Even just the fact that we now see it on FR is proof why social media has a dark side.
Why is it people feel the need to have hundreds of strangers look at them or their family members and comment on it?
Once information is out, it’s out. No coming back from that.

DYFS is too stupid to know the last kid they’ll have to worry about is Shawn Moore. The ones they should worry about are the little gang-bangers who give a crap less about any gun law or DYFS agency.
And I bet you Lynette never bothers to visit the many crackhead “moms” out in Newark who are have kids and living on tax payer dimes.
Right? Soes miss Lynette bother heading over to Camden NJ and checking out the crack houses where welfare moms have their kids and see what is going on with our tax money, and see if the kids are okay?
nope
I saw the father and son on Fox & FRiends this morning. Boy did they jump the shark on that one. He had all his weapons locked in a safe, and the authoritized said they wanted him to open the safe so they could register all his firearms. Glad he stuck to his guns.
Facebook, the preferred choice of socialist regimes to monitor the people.
Not so fast.
Family protective services will have their revenge.
They will make stuff up and co-workers will back the lie.
I would too!
Where’s her hearing and eye protection?
The Federal Gov’t has issued warnings that Facebook is used by foreign agents to access and take over your computer.
And you will never know it.
This is NOT about ID theft.
nice trigger discipline
muzzle in a safe direction
Good trigger discipline. Happy kid. Clearly we must punish him.
I fully support the family’s action here but as I said before, anyone putting information of any kind about themselves or family on any public internet domain including but not limited to face book, twitter, all email accounts, etc. is a fool.
