Correction: An earlier version of this story inaccurately reported that Sen. Rand Paul had called in his speech for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. His speech did not include a reference to a path for citizenship, and the story has been corrected.

The Kentucky senator outlined a path to legalization that would be more demanding than the principles advanced by a bipartisan group of senators who aim to introduce legislation in April. That group includes another likely 2016 contender and possible Paul rival, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Paul said he would want Congress to be involved in certifying that border security has improved sufficiently to open the legalization path, a requirement that many immigrant advocates are sure to oppose as unnecessarily injecting politics into the process.

“Immigration will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution

The solution is to ENFORCE EXISTING LAWS!!!!!!!!

If we are going to give amnesty to criminal aliens who have stolen identities, forged identification and social security documents, fraudulently obtained government documents and services, violated the IRS Code, driven cars and trucks without registration or drivers' licenses, AND illegally entered the United States of America, then what are we going to do with American Citizens who are also guilty of those crimes?

Are we going to give amnesty to American Citizens who are tax cheats, document forgers, Citizens who operate vehicles without licenses, Citizens who fraudulently obtain government documents and services?

Or is this AMNESTY only going to those who ALSO violated immigration laws?

Sen. Rand Paul: Illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain *legal status*

News alert! News alert!

We already have a path to citizenship. I how the argument is framed. They take as a foregone conclusion that no one wants the current path to citizenship.

Geez !!

Paul Ryan says we don't have a debt crisis.

John Boehner trust Obama, Absolutely.

Rand Paul wants to legalize illegal immigrants with no word on border security.

It's almost like I expect Ted Cruz to say something stupid next.

By God I don’t want ANY legalized status until I have a 100% guarantee that you have to prove citizenship to vote. If the USSC throws out the Arizona law than all bets are off folks. Dems will make sure that every one of these illegals get registered and vote in 2014. If they pass this law it is over folks and that includes you too Rand.

Like I said before on this forum. This guy is not someone that conservative should choose just because of a filibuster. There is a lot wrong with what this guy believes.

Too bad most of the folks here won’t take the time to read the entire article and instead, will jump to conclusions based on a deceiving thread title......

They already are allowed to seek legal status.

They can go back home and get at the end of the line.

On the subject of illegal aliens, what can we do?

We know the government is feckless, but what can we do?

I will be hiring a landscape company for the season. I will only hire a company that uses employees and uses E-Verify. Most likely, I will end up doing the work myself but I will interview a number of firms before I give up. Maybe one of them will get the message.

I also have some home improvements I have been delaying. A deck, bathroom renovation. I will interview a number of firms. I will ask every one of them. Are your workers employees? And do you use E-Verify?

If they say yes, I can verify through the database on the NumbersUSA database.

I know I am pushing a boulder up a hill, but push I must.

Already happened in 1986. Enforce the border is the only reform needed.

All I can say is this; If the republicans support amnesty without completely closing the border, or support homosexuality, they'll never win another election. People will simply stop voting.

Mark my words. These are left wing goals. The republicans shouldn't even have them on the table. They shouldn't even be discussing them. These issues are irrelevant to the more important needs in this country.

There's no reason to give either of these issues any attention at all. Move on.

This will be devestating in the short term. Immigrants vote OVERWHELMINGLY for the party that gives them the most handouts. That, in this case, is the Democrats. And, now the Democrats can propose instant citizenship or voting rights to aliens already here and look rational in doing so.
