The AP claimed this morning that Paul was set to endorse a path to citizenship in his speech today. Not so, countered conservatives on Twitter: Read his prepared remarks and youll see that citizenship is never mentioned. Which is true, and also irrelevant.
The whole point of Pauls speech is GOP rapprochement with Latino voters; he spends nearly two-thirds of it extolling Latinos work ethic, reminiscing about his friendships with Latinos growing up in Texas, name-checking Jaime Escalante and Pablo Neruda, and of course citing the ancient canard that Latinos are really just Republicans who dont know it yet. (He mentions abortion and gay marriage as particular areas of overlap).

you just can’t help but push amnesty on another thread can you.
How about border security and deportations?
Text of Rand Paul’s comments
Lol, did you even read the article?
LOL! you are on another thread making excuses for what’s going on, then post this and you can seriously ask that?
LOL indeed.
Rand Paul: The solution doesnt have to be amnesty or deportation-a middle ground might be called probation where those who came illegally become legal through a probationary period.
And when the “probationary period” expires they become legal, ie AMNESTY.
Big Sis says they are already secure!
He says they’ll blend into the culture.
Right.
They’ll learn English with all the wimps around here and in leadership apologizing to them that we’re not learning Spanish quickly enough.
How about they can’t vote?
This is a travesty and it is totally, totally out of control.
Look, this is not a perfect solution but if the illegals will not be deported under obama they might as well start paying taxes. They can still be deported later.
They take, push and force.
Paul says they’ll be part of the culture.
That’s an insult to anyone’s intelligence.
this is about votes and the republican stupid party is falling for this trap.
In our community, the wealthy Mexicans pulled out to the church and school for being told they can’t vote for a pro abortion candidate and be in God’s grace.
They left in droves.
They will not vote for republicans to save their souls and they are teaching their children this, while they force their language and culture onto the community.
The local businesses are bilingual and non Spanish speakers cannot get work.
Yeah, there’ll be deportations. The border is way north of the Rio Grande.
There is no such thing as “probationary” legal status
The “probation” thing will be thrown out in a heartbeat, heck I would throw that out.
“probationary period” will be ruled unconstitutional and walla, 40 million new Democrat voters on the dole.
The end of America.
Nope, if the probationary status is struck down they will just go back to being illegals.
doubtful. the amnesty crowd won’t allow that.
OK I just heard Rand on the Hannity radio show and when Hannity asked him if border security would be first,
RAND SAID NOOOOOOO
The illegals would get work visas right away. Then we would work on border security. Congress is going to vote on whether the border is secure, what a joke!!
He told a heart warming story of when he was a young man working with illegals doing roofing jobs etc. That was a long time ago and really has no basis with illegal aliens today.
Here is a solution.
Mandatory 4 years in the military or a lifetime of not being able to vote in any election.
Or you may go home and apply for citizenship after a 4 year wait.
thrown out by the courts in about a minute, automatic 40 million new Democrats
There isn’t going to be mass deportation, even Michelle Bachmann is against.
