MSNBCs newest ad features weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry unwittingly -- or at least one hopes-- referencing the Communist Chinese economic program known as the Great Leap Forward which left an estimated 18-45 million Chinese dead. The 30-second ad featuring Ms. Perry is narrated as follows:
No fight began just in the years preceding victory. The struggle for civil rights didnt begin in the 1950s. African-Americans had been demanding representation since the 1880s. Women didnt just start fighting for the vote in the 1920s. That began at the founding of this country. Immigrants to this country have been since its founding fighting for safe and legal status. Its a change in the political climate that creates the moment for that great leap forward. The time has come. [See video after jump. MP3 audio here.]
Why would this author assume its unintended?
Unwittingly? I think not.
unwittingly my arse
“Great Leap Forward”, indeed- from ox-carts to bicycles/s When China introduced CAPITALISM, of a sort, that’s when they REALLY started moving!

Of course, I could have misinterpreted that.
What is “unwitting” about this? MSNBC is unashamedly Leftist/Progressive/Marxist/Communist and has been for years.
Right. They know what they are doing. They are a bunch proto maoists, carry their mental equivalent of the little red book, accusing their neighbors and dreaming about concentration camps for those who disagree.
I never thought of that one and I have seen ‘lean forward’ many times.....’great leap,,,,...”, they sure think Obama did the leap.
Harris Perry also does one where she talks about how liberals must now decide how they want to shape the country, having won it over, she says calls it ‘Martin Luther King’s dream of the beloved country’ she says they must decide what it should look like,
They are sure they won ....
When we adopted our daughter in China, we were respectful of the people and many of them were very nice, more interested in surviving day to day (through their capitalist family business’ I will add!) then either their government or politics. They were happy they were allowed to follow religion again, and we found a Catholic church. Then you had your governmental types that ran the show, had to ok your adoption and collect your “donations” and they were quite secretive. We went on tours and things like that and like I said I found the common people quite nice and the tours on the Chinese Dynasty’s interesting. Even visiting monks at
a Buddhist temple was nice. But when for the second day in a row Americans that adopted with us wanted to go on another Mao love tour, my husband and I finally said no. We said to our guide that we just wanted to rest, use the hotels playroom to bond with our new daughter and hang around near the hotel. It was some of the American families that didn’t understand this. Mao was great they said, brought “culture” and unified the people, blah, blah, blah. I gave them a quick history lesson. I don’t think they believed me so I suggested some books when they got
home. One had the nerve to say “without Mao we probably wouldn’t be getting our daughters”. So I said of course I love my little girl, but was it worth millions of people dieing, a one child policy so that these poor children became orphans, so that you could have a baby? I don’t know my daughters background, and I know I can provide a loving home for her. But I have always wondered why her birth mother had to give her up. She may have loved her very much but circumstances and poverty in China made her have to give up her daughter. I was not going on another tour to honor a man arguably worse then Hitler.
From the article:
“The Great Leap Forward is historic testament to the disastrous effects of putting the government in charge of transforming the economy to fit the whims of the political elite. Perhaps MSNBC producers should study more about the failure of Communism. It’s either that or risk another MSNBC host gush about a great “cultural revolution” coming down the pike.”
Maybe that is why the government has been stocking up on huge amounts of emergency food and ammo all the while doing their darnedest to impose draconian gun control!
It's probably somewhere in NBC's Five-Year Plan to start on that one.

Near certainty she was given up only because she was a girl, not a boy.
But I never see the Western feminists complaining about that. I wonder why?
God bless you and you daughter. And Mao was an ignorant beast.

Vietnam was in a death spiral with Marxism/Obamaism and decided to try capitalism on a limited basis beginning in 1995. Since they opened up to the Western world, they’ve been on a continual boom with high rises all over the place now. Obamaism is dead in Vietnam!
yes. I could give them the benefit if the slogan was commonly used in other contexts, but it is not.
Yes, I’m sure a big part of it was that she was a girl. Eleven years later and American through and through! I am indebted to her birth mother for not aborting her and believe it was God’s wish for her to be part of our family.
