RNC report: GOP ‘must embrace’ and ‘champion’ immigration reform (The GOP is finished!)
NBC ^ | 3/18/2013 | Cara Maresca

Posted on 03/18/2013 3:39:31 PM PDT by tobyhill

The Republican National Committee’s “Growth and Opportunity Project”—a self-assessment of the GOP’s 2012 performance, released Monday—diagnoses the party with a dire messaging problem, among other potentially life-threatening woes. But the surprising news from the report? It supports comprehensive immigration reform.

The study says that the GOP “must embrace” and “champion” reform, or fall victim to shrinking constituencies. “We also believe that comprehensive immigration reform is consistent with Republican economic policies that promote job growth and opportunity for all,” the report says.

The GOP is famously divided over the immigration issue. Some prominent Republicans have voiced their support, like Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.—both of whom represent states with significant Hispanic and Latino populations. (In Arizona, 30% of people identify as Hispanic or Latino, as do 23% in Florida, versus 16.7% of the national population). Others, like Jeb Bush, have bobbled, while Mitt Romney’s staunch conservative stance on immigration reform cost him Latino votes in 2012.

Fed up to the gills with being marginalized. And that’s why I poke the hornet’s nests. They need to be poked a lot. Because what they do marginalizes us all.

People need to stand up for what they believe in. So let’s get all the GOP faithful out in plain view and let them tell us why the GOP going full metal Democrat is a great thing. That way we can weigh their ‘evidence’ and decide.

Instead, they will lay low for a day, then hit the threads full force screaming “PURIST!!!” like a Klanner screaming NiXXXr! at a Stone Mountain rally.

Then claim it is the truly conservative thing to do.

She was no Conservative.. she had been grating my nerves for a long time, but I just tried to skip over her posts.. She was also one of the first to start throwing the ‘purist’ comments around (if I am remembering correctly).

Most of us won’t. I know I won’t. Health issues suck. But I KNOW my daughter will. Which is all I really care about. And she’ll thrive in whatever blender results. Thank you USAF/SERE.

I hope good people prevail. Eventually they will...but it’s gonna look a lot like Fallout 3 before they get there. Thanks to the spineless GOP that was SUPPOSED to stop the dems from bringing it on.

It hit me when they nominated Dole, but McCain is what made me quit the GOP.

Immigration and Gay marriage, going on in the future, are probably losers for the GOP. I hate to say it, but I give up, the culture in general is moving in that directions.

From the article; “Why Amnesty for illegal aliens must be stopped”

These RINOs and other people tell us that the GOP must embrace amnesty for illegal aliens in order to win Hispanics’ votes. Embrace amnesty or perish, they tell us.

But they’re dead wrong. The GOP will perish if it adopts their proposals, NOT if it rejects amnesty. That’s because most Hispanics are natural liberals, and giving amnesty (under whatever name) to 12-20 million illegal immigrants from the Third World will create 12-20 million new Democrat voters.

Say there are only 12 mn illegal immigrants in America. Let’s assume they’re legalized and that Republicans achieve George W. Bush levels of the Hispanic vote (44%). That still gives the Democrats a net gain of 1.6 million new voters – 6.72 mn new supporters vs 5.28 mn.

Easy to see why the Democrats are for this. But why would a Republican Party that is not suicidally-minded support this?

If amnesty is passed, you can kiss the House, the Senate, the Presidency, and many governorships and state legislatures goodbye, forever. Republicans will never again be able to win any national election again. The Democrats will gain at least 1.6 mn new voters on net and will thus have permanent majorities in Arizona, Texas, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada.

When Texas goes, America goes.

Consider: while 18 states that have a combined 242 Electoral College votes have voted Democratic in the last consecutive six presidential elections, cobbling together an EC majority has been increasingly difficult for Republicans. Republicans last did it in 2004, and completely failed to do so in 4 of the last 6 elections.

California, overwhelmed by immigrants (legal and illegal), is now stridently liberal. New Mexico is now also out of reach for the GOP. Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, and Florida are increasingly problematic for Republicans. Only Texas and Arizona remain secure – for now.

I think they have some back door deal for the Republicans to take a fall & kill the party. Probably paid off the GOP leadership to make this happen in 2014 so O can complete his (meaning Soros’) agenda. Obama has some very big money behind him with an agenda (think Soros or the Saudi Royals).. I assume this is the case because NOBODY can be this stupid!!

TIME TO REMOVE PRIEBUS.

Seriously, what does this guy have to do to lose his job?

Michael Steele brought us the phenomenal elections of 2010. Under his leadership, we took over the House, picked up 6 senate seats and 7 governor's mansions. But he couldn't talk a good game, so despite all that success we fired him.

Priebus presides over the 2012 debacle, and he gets a second term? The only reason we didn't lose the House last year was the redistributing made possible by 2010. Steele, again.

Sure, Steele was a wimp with a habit of apologizing for conservatism. But the man could at least orchestrate campaigns. Priebus is a loser.

We'll never be competitive on a national level so long as we value style over substance, and reward morons like Priebus for doing nothing but maybe a little lip service.

“Romney lost because millions of “old white guys” like us stayed home on election day.”

Well, that’s part of it. But the sad truth is, each year there’s more and more of the “old white guys” who are simply dying off, or who have become too old and feeble to care about getting to the polls any longer.

There are sizable areas of the country where the Pubbies have simply become outnumbered, and where they have next-to-no change of regaining political influence again. In reality, the Republicans have now shrunk to a “regional party”, and if they’re going to survive and have -any- power on a national level, they’re going to have to fight like heck for those areas where they can still win.

This CANNOT be accomplished by appealling to blacks, Hispanics, or even Asians. It’s just not going to work. The only option Republicans have is to increase their vote in the one demographic group that’s consistently supported them. We all know which group that is.

(As an aside, this old white guy DID go to the polls. Lot of good that did in my state (CT). I’ve about had enough in my time, however. Come 2016, neither Jeb Bush or Chris Christie will get my vote. I’ve made up my mind on that, and I ain’t changin’ it back.)

That ain’t going to happen and you should know that by now. Palin does not want the job, she wants to motivate, not sit in some office.

I take it you are on her staff, right?

You must be since you have such intimate knowledge of Governor Palin's plans.

Well, at this point in time. I believe I have been proved more correct than you. She did say she would rather care for her family and work outside the system.

I'm not into guessing games.

Governor Palin is real good at communicating how she feels about things.

I think I'll wait until she tells us what she's planning vs. listening to anyone else tell me what she's planning.
