Reince Priebus previews RNC ‘autopsy’

A much-anticipated Republican National Committee Chairman report due out Monday on how to reverse the GOP’s fortunes is expected to call for fewer Republican debates, a condensed primary calendar and an earlier party convention.

In an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus outlined those three main recommendations for the 2016 presidential election. The RNC’s so-called “autopsy” — a detailed review of the GOP’s 2012 failures and roadmap going forward — will also include suggestions to improve the party’s digital capabilities and bolster its voter database, among other proposals.

Priebus is set to unveil the plan — titled the “Growth and Opportunity Project” — Monday morning at the National Press Club.

There is no reason for any Republican debates, period, Win on your own merits, not by tearing down the other candidates, with the assistance of moderators, who hate the GOP in the first place.

Priebus should have been fired right after the election.

Republican “debates” are fine, but keep liberal Democrats away from the moderator’s chair.

These people don't get it, do they?

Re Post this a thousand times, it's the truth and needs to be drilled into the Republicans thick skulls.

Conservatives are in charge now and they need to go sit down for a while.

I just don’t see them adding much value....maybe before the age of cable TV, they made sense...but now every debate, no matter where it is, becomes fodder for the media with which to bash Republicans in general with.

You’ve got the RINOs and GOP-e’rs in charge of the process that is supposed to take us in a more conservative direction? Prince Reibus, or Prius Reibus is one of the dopes that shows how out of touch the RNC is. Even Michael Steele before him was supposedly a staunch conservative, but he was too busy “getting jiggy wit it” trying to drop outdated 90s ghetto slang to sound hip to the voters 20 years later. Also Steele turned out to be a big flaming RINO as well.

If you paid attention, the damaging soundbites came as a result of liberal slanted questions designed to pit Republicans against one another. A conservative moderator would elicit answers that are of value to conservatives. That’s not what we got.

I agree I’d rather have no debates if we’re only going to get Jim Lehrer asking the questions. And that goes double for the General Election.

Oh, I forgot to mention: The leading candidate for the GOP was quite happily destroying his competition.

Priebus and the RNC are 8 years behind the RATS in building their voter databases and modeling and using them to identify online grassroots opinion leaders and influencers and driving turnout. 8 years behind! It’s shameful.

The GOP’s problem is that they really suck at marketing themselves and being able to overcome the stereotype of the typical Republican as an old rich white guy on the golf course.

There are a number of problems that plague the conservative movement and the GOP in general such as:

*Excessive romanticization of the 1950s. There has been a persistent tendency among the right in America to act as if Leave It To Beaver was a documentary instead of a TV sitcom.
*Excessive focus on social issues to the detriment of hard economic/political ones. They should not of course be abandoned completely since it’s still necessary to get the votes of the South and other areas.
*Trying to run unqualified nonwhite candidates for the sole purpose of advertising the GOP as welcoming to minorities. When there is actually a black guy like Alan West who was legit, he gets thrown under the bus.
*Having virtually indistinguishable positions from the Democrats on free trade and using the military as world police

How much was spent of Romeny’s campaign and his own money to trash the Republicans versus the amount spent attacking Obama?

You are quite right, but good luck getting the MSM to broadcast a republican debate with a conservative-friendly moderator. Ain't gonna happen.

Probably an amount similar to John McCain. That was his SOP as well. He saves his most vicious attacks for us.

You are apparently lost. This is a conservative site. We do not compromise on Social Issues, ever. You need to find the Libertarian site, because Freepers, or at least Conservative Freepers, will never agree with your opinion on this issue.

For further proof, if you haven't paying attention to the posts here on this site, you might want to heed the advice of the owner, Jim Robinson:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
