“I have long hoped for a time when the left’s coalition of special interest groups (gays, feminists, greens, la razas, peaceniks, unionistas, academics etc.) became a coalition of competing interests. I have also long been disappointed that it hasn’t happened yet.”

It happened here in NJ, as teachers’ unions got 5% raises with property taxes capped at 2%; to balance the budget, thousands of cops and firemen and untenured teachers have lost their jobs over the last few years. Those jobs will never come back, either; the populations they “served” are fleeing the state (and we lost an electoral vote to prove it).

That will NOT happen until SOMEONE makes it happen..
They could easily be divided and conquered...
It just takes the will to DO IT!..

Republicans are too lazy and optimistic.. because they are lazy..
It would take a Cabal of EX-republicans to do it..

Yes, but have they started blaming each other yet? I'm guessing in their minds it's still somehow "Bush's fault."
