...According to the household survey (on which the unemployment rate is based), the economy added a healthy 170,000 jobs. The survey also shows a tremendous increase of 446,000 part-time jobs.
...What this means is that the economy actually shed 276,000 full-time jobs.
I don’t know, Rod...
I realize that Boehner is trying to be polite. He probably even thinks he’s the Speaker of all the House, rather than the head of the Republican coalition in the House. Still....
Did Nancy Pelosi ever say she “trusts” George W. Bush?
The democrats and their media are skilled at messaging people, smearing opponents and fighting nasty. The GOP plays by the rules and gets slaughtered.
I’d rather hear Boehner talk about how he opposes Obama and why (that is, Obama is wrong and hurting the country). Never let up on this message.
It's harder to deal with the likes of a Boehner who can only be removed by a small number of voters in his particular district in Ohio a year from this coming November.
Until then I don't see any alternative than trying to deal with him. What am I missing there? If we still have to deal with him,and I still don't see an alternative, all I can think to do is to advocate things that will help his decision making on such issues as the debt ceiling. That comes up in a few weeks by the way.
Perhaps we would be better off suggesting moves he can make. Demands we can make from the regime before we sign on to any debt increase. Let's give him some ammo and then hope he uses it.
Other than that I don't know how to approach the problem. If you have any other ideas....
Hearing this made me seriously face-palm...
I hear that stay home myth coming from a lot of people including Rush. The fact is that Romney received a million votes more in 2012 than McCain did in 2008. Romney also did better in almost all of the swing states than did McCain or candidates like Akin and Mourdock. He also did much better among non-Hispanic white voters including those 18-29.
Romney received 60,932,176 votes compared to McCain's 59,950,323. It was Obama's voters that stayed home as he received about 4 million less votes in 2012 than in 2008, i.e. 65 million in 2012 versus 69 million in 2008.
I hope 2014 turns out well, but Obama's organization is strong and well-funded. They will pull out all the stops, including fraud, to take over the House. Obama knows that once he has the House, he can truly transform America.
Our only hope is that as the pain of the implementation Obamacare begins to hit the voters, they will move away from Obama. But then the Stupid Party may help Obama by mitigating the pain by agreeing to changes in Obamacare. They will mend it, not end it. The tax on medical equipment will be one of the first to go.
We constantly let the left lie about the truth on any and all situations.
It's almost bizarre at times.
Its biazarre to me that anyone could vote for a democrat.I guess we shall see in 2014.
Maybe our side is starting to get it, lets hope so.
It would be more of a miracle if it said:
So, this Irishman walks PAST a bar...
Blacks and Hispanics have the highest unemployment rates now. Do you think that ads are going to change their voting behavior? Voting is almost like religion. You inherit it and it is very difficult to change especially when all of your peers are of one mind. Our first black (and minority) President will not lose their support due to an ad.
And if prosperity, employment, and education were factors that are so powerful, why did Asians vote 73% for Obama topping even Hispanics at 71%? They are among the most successful group in this country in terms of education and income. Moreover they have an even lower unemployment rate than non-Hispanic whites.
Xavier Becerra made a comment that the biggest spending item to control is the tax breaks in the Internal Revenue Code; a $1 Trillion giveaway, something like that.
Does anybody here know if Mr. Becerra's comment includes the Earned Income Credit? Just think, if we eliminated EIC, a significant number of people who DON'T pay any federal income tax would start paying it. That could take the 47% down a lot.
Then Matthew Dowd made some comment about the need to stop running CPAC and start a new conservative gathering, because "CPAC has become irrelevant." An ironic comment coming from a guy who makes regular appearances on a Sunday morning political talk show.
Palin is the one with executive experience, Cruz is new to politics. Palin/Cruz, however, would be perfect.
It’s not just border security! Ann Coulter is the only one I heard speak out against the amnesty that the GOPe is plotting to use to snuff out its own viability.
(And Rubio is absolutely out for his pro-amnesty bill and position, IMO.)
Oh really?
Please explain.
And by the way, welcome to Free Republic and the Sunday thread! :-)
The problem is everything we know that needs to be done from closing the border to eliminating the free welfare lines takes guts to do. We need strong majorities in both Houses of Congress and the Presidency or strong leaders willing to go down for their beliefs. We have some not enough.
Who is Marketwatch anyway? CBS? One of the propaganda organs of the Left in any case...
So, just to educate the low information votes...
170,000 jobs is anemic; not healthy. Healthy is a lie, and rather bald-faced. We need 300,000 plus jobs a week for many months to bring back the economy to 2006 levels at least.
Gingrich was pushed out of his position. It will take some behind the scenes courage to move against Boehner. If he continues to ignore the Hastert rule, he will hurt Reps in their reelection in 2014. He is forcing them to be on the record on issues that their opponents will seize upon whether it is amnesty or gun control or tax increases. If the majority of your own party is against something, why do you help the Dems pass it? A small minority of Reps with the Dems are now running the show in the House. It undermines any rationale for a Rep-controlled House.
Brilliant post and we can do it with our own media and not pretend that we will get a fair shake with the old/DBM media.
We have the potential to make our own future using our own media.
