A new Ice Age is creeping over the Northern Hemisphere, and the rest of this century will grow colder and colder, a British expert on climate says.
Prof. Hubert Lamb, director of climate research at the University of East Anglia, had a few comforting thoughts in an interview Sunday :
"The full impact of the new Ice Age will not be upon us for another 10.000 years and even then it will not be as severe as the last great glacial period.
"We are past the best of the inter-glacial period which happened between 7.000 and 3.000 years ago," he continued.
"Ever since then we have been on a downhill float regarding temperature. There may ahve been a few upward fluctuations from time to time but these are more than offset by the general downward trend."

My hubby pointed this out to me a couple of years ago. Basically, we still have snow and ice at the poles, so we are still in an Ice Age.

The civilized,industrialized world (The US,Europe,Japan and several other nations/regions) could outlaw the internal combustion engine and shut down every power plant fueled by oil,gas and coal tomorrow and,within a month,China would replace the "pollution" that's missing by opening up 50 coal fired power plants and opening 2,000 dirty,filthy factories.
I've been to China...several times...recently.The clearest day I saw there was 50 times worse than the very worst day I've ever seen in Southern California.It's every bit as bad as the foggiest day I've ever seen in London except in China it's *pollution*,not fog,that's to blame.

East Anglia, Michael Mann, Hide the Decline. This is the leading climatology center which mocks those of us ( who themselves are about as old or older than this article ) because we are deluded and not listening to science. They swear we get it from uninformed press.... When in fact we get it from the founder of their climatology program itself.
That is the significance of this.
And I don’t know what it is about East Anglia but I notice Monty Python mocks them regularly.

It would have been good of you to put “1972” in the title so that Freepers wouldn’t be misled. Reading the responses to your post, it appears that some were misled.

1. There’s an entire field in the article subject devoted to “Date”
2. The article’s initial comment refers to the founding of the east anglia climate research unit.
3. I again pointed out the 1972 date in the early comments.
