I agree with you on the “cheap votes” but they are also cheap labor. Though what the illegal takes home may be a decent paycheck, under the table labor saves an employer from paying income tax, FICA, unemployment insurance, regular insurance, and a host of other employee related costs.
NC, VA, FL all southern states, well OK forget south east FL though the rest of the state is republican and the north of I-4 is still many southerners here and where southern accents can still be heard thankfully.
