MSNBC host Ed Schultz announced tonight that, as of April, he will no longer host his weeknight primetime show. But Schultz will stay with the network, hosting a two-hour program on Saturday and Sunday nights, he said.
-snip-
Sources at MSNBC told POLITICO that that was a very generous interpretation of events. Schultz was pushed out to make way for new talent, they said.

Ed who ?
I know it’s fun to make fun of this guy’s ‘2 or 3 viewers’; but the awful truth is that he draws 800,000 viewers every night in prime time (more than ‘Hardballs’)...something I find pretty damn scary.
I remember when Rush referred to Mr. Ed as “Sergeant Schultz” and Sheila (”Clueless”) Jackson-Lee leaped to his defense, accusing Rush of racism or something.
The Sargent Schultz character was nice man working for the wrong side. He made toys before the war. Ed, from what I can tell is a nasty, foul mouthed man.
Liberal News is not about profit.
MSNBC has put themselves in a box by putting Sharpton on the air. The will have to buy him into “voluntarily” leaving. There is no way they can force him out without incurring the wrath of his constituency.
Special Ed is getting a Saturday show so 83 viewers have some place to go.
PMSNBC is garbage journalism.
“... moving to Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 7 PM.”
I’m pretty sure the last time I turned the TV on during that time slot, all I could find was QVC, reruns of Hew Haw, and “snow”.
Both his viewers will now have find someone else to occupy their empty lives...........
His viewers will probably need something to watch after the Saturday cartoons are over.
PMSNBC is garbage journalism.
“Oh, no.
No more comedy from the talking horse.
Oh well, we still have the Madcow.”
Yep, Rachel...the other end of the horse.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer Commie wacko...
“PMSNBC is garbage journalism.”
That is an insult to garbage. And journalism.
Thanks for posting.
This is Ed Schultz on Dick Cheney....what an ahole
Youre damn right, Dick Cheney’s heart’s a political football, Schultz said in remarks recorded by the media blog Radio Equalizer. We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him.”
And all of his fake twitter accounts.
Guess that puts Fat Eddie on the “too-decayed-to-view” watchlist, next to Chavez.
Just heard they’re replacing Mr. Ed with Chris Hayes.
