White smoke at the Vatican. A new Pope has been selected!
Just smells of censorship, something I thought FR was against. BTW, I did not see the posts.
First Jesuit, first Argentinian, first “Francis.”
I was surprised that this is the first Pope Francis.
This Protestant celebrates with you today. Blessings!!!
Thanks very much for posting that!
I just finished reading the Wiki info to my husband.
I’m grateful for his stand against homo-marriage....

“A champion of liberation theology which some thought might have been too much for conservatives in the Vatican, he nonetheless is considered a candidate that everyone in the higher echelons of the church respects. He becomes the church’s first Latin American pope.”
Thanks for your post. Praying that all Christians stand strong together in these troubled times.
Blessings to our Catholic brethren on this special day.
YES! I hope he’s honoring St Francis of Asissi!
Amen and amen!

Abundant blessings!
It’s a happy day indeed!!!

Kirchner is a scumbag
Thank you for posting that. Some very inaccurate information is being spread regarding our new Pope.
“YES! I hope hes honoring St Francis of Asissi!”
Possibly as he is the patron saint of Italy, but probably for St Francis Xavier who was one of the first Jesuits.
What’s interesting in doing a search about this man everyone seems to be using the same sentence about him distancing himself from the liberation theology.
As if that is a current PR campaign.
Maybe he did distance himself from it.
I completely understand why a preacher, or minister or priest or cardinal or pope would say the following:
“”We live in the most unequal part of the world, which has grown the most yet reduced misery the least,” Bergoglio said during a gathering of Latin American bishops in 2007. “The unjust distribution of goods persists, creating a situation of social sin that cries out to Heaven and limits the possibilities of a fuller life for so many of our brothers.””
But it still sounds like some kind of Marxist thought.
Ditto
I personally know of a pries who receives large investment income checks from assets donated to him. He does NOT distribute that money to the poor. He can not be the only one who has had investment income like that donated to him. This is only the tip of the iceberg. However, lightning awaits those who reveal details...
Over the years, Bergoglio became close to the Comunione e Liberazione movement founded by Italian Fr. Luigi Giussani, sometimes speaking at its massive annual gathering in Rimini, Italy. He's also presented Giussani's books at literary fairs in Argentina. This occasionally generated consternation within the Jesuits, since the ciellini once upon a time were seen as the main opposition to Bergoglio's fellow Jesuit in Milan, Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini.
