While I don’t like the idea of more people (young or old) consuming mind altering drugs, I also don’t see what gives the state the authority to tell me what I may or may not put into my body.

If I am not sovereign over my own body, then I’m a slave to whomever holds that authority.

Real freedom comes with certain risks and untidiness. People who want a perfect society, want slavery by default.

Sane citizens of these failed states should get out now, before they will be stuck with the bill of trying to keep these pot-head losers afloat.

Years ago, 60 Minutes aired a segment about the hippie life style. The interviewer was trying to talk to a stoned couple at their camp-site in the woods and getting nothing meaningful out of them. The camera panned to their ragged, dirty children about 3 and 5. They were playing on the nearby highway. What future did those kids have, stuck with such selfish losers for parents?

More like they are just admitting to it now. Who are they kidding? If a kid is going to smoke pot, he's going to do it no matter what. Let's sit back and look at this 2 years from now... let's see the reduction numbers for: guns, cars and other personal property seized (stolen) by LE in the name of the drug war, midnight drug raids, young people sitting in jail with life destroyed over 2oz of pot, crowding in jails and prisons, the list goes on. Unfortunately it is still illegal almost everywhere so we won't see much of a negative effect on the Mexican drug pimps.

I maintain my stance: the drug war is ludicrous and only empowers the drug lords and strips US citizens of their freedoms... if someone is stupid enough to snort coke, you aren't going to stop them. At worst, you will see a temporary rise in experimentation. Think about it... how many people really quit drinking during prohibition? It's a ridiculous notion to think the same methods will work just because the vice is a different chemical. But for some reason, many people are willing to give all that power to the authorities and trust them with it when all we really need to do is properly educate.

The massive increase in both the number of users and the amount of marijuana used by young people is precisely what I and many others predicted.

Absent other proof of harm, this assertion falls short of the title's claim of bad consequences.

I don’t smoke pot. Anything that makes me hungry and lazy, I need less of. On the other hand, I have a general contractor who is a friend of the family who does smoke it. He is the most motivated, hard working guy I’ve met. Make of that what you will.

It needs to be repeated again and again:

There were no federal laws prohibiting marijuana possession, use, and distribution prior to 1937.

And the republic survived just fine, in spite of the assertions by power-hungry prohibitionist bureaucrats that the evil weed made white women have sex with black jazz musicians.

Repeal all federal MJ prohibition laws. Let the states handle it. Now.

regular pot smokers increasingly tune out of life, becoming what are known as potheads, or, to put it bluntly, losers.

Because of increasing automation and increasing minimum wage America has increasing numbers of human pets that are good for companionship and entertainment but little else. The least resources they consume the better. Pot/cat nip may keep them out of more expensive hobbies. The trick is how to keep the 50% of teenagers with actual potential from going up in smoke.

To me it makes perfect sense. A pot smoker is likely to vote communist. Don’t ask me why - it just is that way. If you’re perpetually high on weed all that stuff about lowering the sea levels, raising the minimum wage, and driving golf carts around all “make sense”. If you’re not a pot smoker some of that stuff may make sense or not - but it makes more sense if you’re hitting the pipe.

And I’m really not trying to be funny either. I’m actually being quite serious. And I think some (but not all) of the people pushing this agenda are fully cognizant of this.

With more people using cannibus, how is it obtained?
Rather ignorant here.
Are they illegally importing it?
Are they legally growing it?
Are companies growing and selling it like tobacco?
Just curious

All Prager offers here concerning an increase in the number pot smokers is anecdotal evidence—the results of some local TV station’s study and a few quotes by high school students. Didn’t Prager used to be a libertarian?

I saw a study that found that the smoke from 1 joint equaled the cancer producing of 20 cigarettes. It’s the smoke that causes lung cancer, that’s why I don’t get people outlawing cigarettes and legalizing MJ for health reasons.

The New Left, and their spawn such as Obama, had their psyches and world views shaped in large part based on their marijuana and hallucinogenic drug use.

It’s a major contributor to the mush head thinking that has allowed so many to become liberal and left and for it to be have been mainstreamed.

So drug warriors, are you going to defend the Tenth Amendment and support CO and WA’s constitutional authority; or are you going to whore your principles out by supporting fedgov and the fraudulent Wickard Commerce Clause?

According to the CBS4 report,

Here's the actual report: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/03/06/drug-testing-company-sees-spike-in-children-using-marijuana/.

based in part on data from a local drug-testing lab:

The rest being based on student anecdotes.

“Experts say the test results show that children are getting higher than ever with alarming levels of THC, marijuana’s active ingredient, in their bodies.”

The report makes clear that the testing regimen has changed in a number of ways - so there's no valid way to make a before-and-after comparison.

When something desirable is made easier to obtain, more people will obtain it.

Drug Warrior, thy name is ignorance. The amendment kept pot illegal for minors - and even if the enabling legislation has been passed (last I heard it hasn't) there simply hasn't been time for growers and distributors to get licensed and gear up. These kids probably are smoking more openly because they're as ignorant as this Drug Warrior - but they have a better excuse for their ignorance.

The fact about legalization and youth availability is this: Teens report nationwide that they can get the illegal-for-adults drug pot more easily than legal-for-adults beer or cigarettes; the evidence is that the most effective way to keep pot out of teens' hands is to legalize it for adults - so sellers have an incentive not to sell to kids (namely, the loss of their legal adult sales).

I guess I'm so out of it I haven't seen or smelled a single joint since the new law.
