Not another pot thread. Where is head slap guy when you need him?
You’ve got to balance these things. The Drug War has been an absolute disaster for personal liberty. Swat raids, civil forfeiture, disproportionately applied penalties, enrichment of violent drug peddling gangs, destabilization of Mexico, volcanoes, global warming... Drug warriors, let it go.
Ain’t it wonderful how nobody is telling anyone what they can put into their own bodies?
What the hell did they expect.
If you made heroin legal you would have nw junkies by the thousands in thirty days.
Make Marijuana legal and certainly people will start smoking it.
“Yes, tobacco specifically cigarettes kills and marijuana doesnt. “
You are still smoking.
Just more wasted lives, turmoil and destruction courteousy of the Progressive/Liberal Left.
The real problem is this kind of immorality is going around the world. Since the Lord has dealt with such in the past - Babel, Flood of Noah, the Fall of the Roman Empire - What will it be next?
I love these satire articles.
No wonder Colorado is enacting so many gun control laws.
Lots of people like to complain about the erosion of civil liberties, but what’s going to happen if the number of addicts grows exponentially?
Junkies don’t function in society, they don’t parent, produce economic output at the same level as people who aren’t addicts.
So who fills in the gap from the failure of personal responsibility? The State.
If they aren’t committing violent crimes or causing accidents, who cares? Let the moron potheads alone.
I love Prager, but I’d say his logic is flawed here. Unless you believe government should rule over adults in some ersatz parental manner and govern as if the sum total of all citizens were the equivalent of adolescents, how could this argument hold water?
those nasty freedomses ... we hates ‘em
Sounds like my high school. I swear Cheech and Chong were doing all of their research there. Wish I could bring those kids here and show them all of the marginally employed fifty-something dishwashers and cab drivers I know as a result.
From Steve Martin on SNL:
I mentioned that, earlier in the show, a drug joke - and I hate to do that, because it creates a mess, and I’m not into drugs any more. I quit completely, and I hate people who are still into it. Well.. I do take one drug now - for fun - and, maybe you’ve heard of it, it’s a new thing, I don’t know if you have or not. It’s a new thing, it makes you small. [ indicates size with fingers ] About this big. And, you know, I’ll be home, sitting with my friends, and, uh.. we’ll be sitting around, and somebody will say, “Heeeyyy.. let’s get small!” So, you know, we get small, and uh.. the only bad thing is if some tall people come over. You’re walking around going, “Ah hahaha..!” Now, I know I shouldn’t get small when I’m driving.. but I was driving around the other day, and I said, “What the heck?” You know? So I’m driving like.. [ extends arms high in the air like he’s reaching up to a giant steering wheel ] And, uh.. a cop pulls me over. And he makes me get out, he looks at me and he says, “Heyyy.. are you small”? I said, “No-o-o! I’m not!” He said, “Well, I’m gonna have to measure you.” They have this little test they give you - they give you a balloon.. and if you can get inside of it, they know you’re small. Now, I’ve already talked it over with the cast - they’ve been working all week, it’s a tough thing to do, come out here live. Immediately after the show, we’re all gonna go out.. and get really small!
Marijuana should remain illegal but should only merit a fine not any jail time. Its the only way the state can get money from pot because once its legal, people will grow it for free (not to mention all the money the state saves from court costs and incarceration). Driving under the influence of marijuana should merit the same penalties as alcohol.
It must be different amongst yankees but this fixation on free republic about pot and leftists is alien to me in 2013 in Dixie
In 1969 one might have had a point....Marihuana...this is the age according to Uncle Jerry
However today i know scores of pot smokers and all i know are conservatives or at least not leftists
I agree chronic weed is bad but responsible use is much ado about not much
Same kids who already smoked, now just being more open about it. Because they can.
Whoop dee doo.
But kids still get their hands on guns, resulting in bad consequences.
So, we should outlaw all guns.

Is it possible that in this case, and the case of prohibition, that there is an appearance of increased use due to the fact that the users are no longer hiding it?
