Mark Kelly to CNN: Plan Was to Hand Over AR-15 All Along
Breitbart ^ | 3/11/13 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 03/11/2013 9:13:14 PM PDT by Nachum

Appearing on CNN's The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer on March 11, Mark Kelly said he planned from the start to hand over an AR-15 rifle he purchased to the Tuscon Police Department.

Blitzer then quoted a section from the March 9 Breitbart News story on Kelly's purchase, and asked Kelly to respond.

Here's what Blitzer read:

Breitbart News then began investigating the details surrounding the purchase, including visiting the gun store. Suddenly, Kelly announced on his Facebook page that he was not going to keep the AR-15, which he has yet to pick up from the store.

Kelly responded that he went into the gun store with a plan to buy a .45, "and if we had the opportunity, to buy the AR-15 as well." He said he didn't "know the timing," but he and his people "had a plan for when [they] were going to announce it on Facebook."

Attention to this issue has been intense, because Kelly bought the AR-15 on March 5 but did not announce that he was turning it over to Tucson PD until three days later.

"Kelly criticized the AR-15 as a "deadly" weapon "designed for the military"

Umm...actually Mark, the Colt .45 ACP that you kept actually is a "deadly weapon designed for the military" as opposed to the AR 15 which is not.

Take a little solace in this: He purchased the AR-15 from Diamondback Police Supply in Tucson. That’s one of the highest priced gun stores in town. He paid a lot more than he needed to even in today’s market. And now he has to give his over-priced rifle to TPD just to back up his lie. I think there is a little (but not enough) justice in that.

Well said!

The formula has been played before with former aide to President Ronald Reagan, James Brady. It was Brady’s wife Sarah who took up the cause to limit handgun ownership. Victim-hood always makes a good marketing device.

“Who purchases a fairly expensive item just to turn it over to law enforcement? Mark Kelly is a liar.”

Yeah, and for what purpose? If he should state that he was motivated by a desire to upgrade the Tuscin police dept’s weaponry the simple way to do that would have been to simply donate money. He gave about as lame an excuse as one could concoct it seems to me.....

So instead of just being a gutless pussy afraid he was going to garner negative publicity from libtards, he was ACTUALLY actively supporting the undermining of the Constitution of the United States by trying to make hay with tragedy.

DOUCHEBAG...

Mark Kelly is the definition of a scum bag, parades his wife around like a trained seal to trash Republicans..from the moment his wife was shot he saw his chance to get his fame

They’ll arrest him about a week after they pick up those Black Panthers who put a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman’s head, dead or alive.

Gabby Giffords was a nice lady with terrible left-wing politics. Her husband Mark Kelly appears to be using her “victimhood’ to position himself for a future in Arizona politics.

Kelly appears to have a big ego and may ‘shoot’ for high office, either AZ governor (Brewer retires in 2014), or US Senator (McCain is in office until 2016). Other statewide offices (Sec. of State, Treasurer) may be too minor to attract Mr. Giffords.

His wife's old Congressional seat (AZ 2) is probably his #1 choice. I live in this district and a move to Phoenix for me an the family becomes more and more tempting.

GREAT post! Spot on and 100% correct. I was going to write these exact sentiments but you have done a far better job than I.

This post needs to find its way into every newspaper and TV news show.

I think a LOT of people are wondering which gun store now just happens to have an AR15 laying around to be purchased.

How many poor children could he have fed with that money?

He's taking food out of the mouths of babies! Starving poor kids and helpless women!

Oh the humanity!

******,” but he and his people “had a plan for when [they] were going to announce it on Facebook.” *****

He ‘has people’?????

Just a celebrity wannabe - milking his wife’s tragedy for publicity and paid appearances. Wonder when the ‘book’ will be published?

If he didn’t tell his gun-grabber friends about his plan in advance, in written emails or blog posts, then he’s lying.

Just like the AbScam congress critters who announced after being busted that “they were conducting their own sting operation into corruption.”

Yeah, right. Sure.

You see, He and his wife (As well as about 1000 other political elite) fully understand that they are elite.

If you haven't, do check out Thomas Sowell's "Vision of the Annointed".

This man has committed a crime, he has admitted to it, and he should be arrested and charged.

Yup. I'm sure the Prosecutor's Office will get right on it; just like they did with David Gregory when he obtained an illegal capacity gun magazine.
