That shocks me. I was waiting for the punch line to be that WFB is going to give this guy's heirs millions. My guess is that the bank argued that even though they were wrong about the amount he owed, he should have been making the correct payments instead of not paying at all. Since he didn't, WFB probably claimed that he was in default and they were entitled to foreclose. I would have several arguments against that one, but it seems like his attorney was a friend helping him for free, and not necessarily a good attorney. What a crime.
Too much back story.
All I know is that if your insurance is paid as part of your mortgage, you better make damn sure Wells Fargo is actually insuring you. In fact you better stay on top of who owns the debt from one week to the next.
That was the sweet little surprise I got when I had an urgent claim to file with the insurance company.
Although it won’t be because there is little justice on earth, this should be a death penalty case, with everyone at Wells Fargo who touched this case, up to and including the CEO of Wells Fargo, subject to the ultimate punishment.
This guy would have had a better chance of prevailing had he taken his cause to Facebook than the courts. Sad state of affairs...
Judges are appointed, but then have to run for their seat after some period of time, 8 years I think. They almost never are challenged, and rarely lose when challenged.
“Wells Fargo is not a business. It’s a quasi-governmental entity that has full indemnification from the central bank. It faces zero market risk and zero competitive pressure.”
Exceptionally well said.
Everyone at the bank who was involved in this travesty should be lined up at the edge of trench and shot by executioner wearing red beanies and scarves
As I understand it he has no heirs. He never married, had no children and was the last of the Mohicans in his family.
Wells Fargo got a freebie, maybe.
The neighbor intends on seeing this case through and getting justice.
What I can’t understand is how the judge was going to summarily side with Wells Fargo...
a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded as the military...
Thnx for posting this. I was listening to the reporter tell this story and when she got to end I was so floored I pulled over and stopped my car, to angry for a few minutes.
You are completely wrong on this one.
Pictures are “hung”. People are “hanged”.
And until dead, at that!
They said you was hung.
And they was right.
Yeah, me too. Not very dissimilar from the above written anecdote. They LOVE to assess extra charges, then simply add them to your bill so even though you make the payment you show delinquent. I don’t think I would let them out of the branch before leveling it.
Next time my wife and I bought a car, we told the sales guy upfront, “Don’t even think about WF. We’ll walk out on a deal.”
Are LA Superior Court Judges in the habit of leaking their decisions the night before hearings?
You certainly could be correct but I think that's rare.Every state has laws that apply if one dies "intestate",without a valid will. These laws go down a list of types of relationship...spouse,parent,child,sibling,etc.How many people don't have a niece/nephew...great niece/nephew...second cousin, etc somewhere? And if I'm wrong I think that most states' laws in such a situation say that when *no* relative can be found the $$$ goes to the state. In that case you can be sure that the state will fight this until the cows come home given the potential $$$ involved.
That's my take on it. At least make an attempt to make an estimated correct payment.
