After closing the doors to public tours in an effort to save money, White House officials haven't yet said if sequester cuts will result in furloughs or layoffs for its senior staffers -- as is happening with rank-and-file in other executive branch agencies.
But there are dozens of senior employees and other presidential "assistants" to choose from if the administration were to look at cutting the six-figure salaries from its payroll.
In the field of energy and climate change alone, President Obama in 2012 employed three advisers making at least $100,000 -- though one has since left.
The president kept on staff a "deputy assistant" for energy and climate change, Heather Zichal, making $140,000; a "special assistant" for energy and environment, Nathaniel Keohane; and a "deputy director" for energy and climate change, Dan Utech.
Together, their salaries totaled over $370,000 last year, according to White House records.
Climate blogger Steven Goddard said it's unlikely the administration will scale back its circle of advisers, at least on this issue.

Yet the WH staff has expanded. Unconscionable. I hope FOX keeps up this line of reporting.
I’d like to see how much taxpayer money is being spent on Moochelle’s personal entourage. Maybe if they cut that staff down to one assistant, they could keep the White House tours open for the rest of the year.

I’m far removed from wanting to say anything good about Obama but making an advisers salary of $100,000.00 an issue is a bit overboard. There are thousands of state and local government employees making that much and much more. There is much emphasis today on federal employees wages etc. and I believe these are bloated beyond public value but the same goes for state and local government employees. Once a government compensation ladder is created and functioning/used it is difficult to keep/use the same old ladder after time.
Get Valerie Jarrett out of the WH. She directs B-HO in the ruination of our economy. It would save the nation a whole lot of money if Valerie Jarrett were banned from the WH.

The annual salary for the director of the White House Visitors Office, Ellie S. Schafer, went from $70,000 in 2009 to $100,000 in 2012.
According to annual reports to Congress on White House staff salaries, Schafer was paid $70,000 in 2009, $71,400 in 2010, $80,000 in 2011 and $100,000 in 2012.
