From the article: The trustees say they did not fire Paterno, thought they stood behind it as the right decision given the details of the presentment. “We retired him three weeks early,” Suhey said...

So...if you put in your three-week notice that you're leaving a job...and your boss doesn't like that you're leaving and fires you right away...that's just a "reduction in force three weeks early"????

Certainly the Penn State Board of Trustees deserved all the crits they got for the "tact" of firing Paterno by phone...That's open disregard of simple courtesy toward ANY given employee!!!

But I don't know which is worse:
...the Penn State Alumni sanctioning Paterno's cover-up,
...or Penn State trustees continuing to (a) pay the salary of one its "cover-up" employees (AD Tim Curley); while (b) ALSO now fudging on the need to have fired Paterno right away!!!

All I can say is, "Hey, they all deserve each other in State College!"

"Hey, they all deserve each other in State College!"

Gay Valley was being administrated by a renowned Wife Swapping Studies scholar at the time.

Do you know anything at all about this topic?

That was a rhetorical question, by the way. You don’t know an f’ing thing.

...the Penn State Alumni sanctioning Paterno's cover-up,

The entire notion of "sanctioning Paterno's cover-up" is completely specious. Paterno was told something, and he reported it up the change of command. He didn't witness anything. And he was not silent. He didn't cover anything up.

There was a thread earlier today about a prank in an elevator -- the doors would slide open, and inside would be one person strangling another person. Most witnesses just stood there and allowed to doors to close, while they declined to get on board. Not a good reaction, but a rather human reaction. Paterno didn't react that way. He heard a report and he passed that report on to his superiors.

And some folks hate him for that and treat him with more scorn than they treat the actual child molester. I'll just never understand it.

Careful - the apologists will be out in force soon enough.

Paterno and far more higher ups than him turned a blind eye to a known pedophile... THe idea the didn’t know or did what they shoudl have was, is and always be NONSENSE!

They knew, probably before, but certainly after, they pushed Sandusky out after the incident in that hotel room at that bowl game years and years earlier that he was pedophile and every last damned one of them turned a blind eye for years to it.

Frankly there are a lot more people at Penn State who need to be gone over this.. fans upset JoePa got pushed out a few weeks early over it are MORONS and in denial.

ALL: You can see by reading Penn State related threads on FR that the jopologists exercising rAPOLOGIES would love for Sandusky's taints upon his buds to just "go away."

But, you see, in State College, it NEVER goes away.

When you go to the local newspaper there -- the CentreDaily Times -- where most newspapers only have Topical Banners like...

HOME NEWS SPORTS LIVING OPINION OBITUARIES LOCAL DEALS

...that you can click on as part of the Home Page navigation...
...the CentreDaily Times of State College LITERALLY has:

HOME NEWS SPORTS SANDUSKY SCANDAL LIVING OPINION OBITUARIES LOCAL DEALS

16 months later -- since the scandal broke -- and the

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

is still THE NEWS in State College!!!!
