Mr. Chávez would have enjoyed the comparisons to Christ and Mr. Bolívar. "He wanted to be the Bolívar of the 21st century," said Enrique Krauze, a leading Mexican historian and author of "Redeemers," about Latin America's messianic caudillos, or charismatic political leaders. The late president often saw himself as a reincarnation of the 19th-century patriot who liberated five countries and sought to unite the former Spanish colonies, say former colleagues.

Leftists are no different from pagans when it comes to worshiping idols, I see.
You have issues with Simon Bolivar?
They have spent the last decade brainwashing their people that Simon Bolivar was assassinated by their imperialist enemies.
In other words they keep telling lies until people believe it
Where did you get that from? I didn’t say a word about Bolivar. I was talking about leftists.
The only thing he had in common with Bolivar was his explicit use of “Simon Says”.
I hope Satan lights him up love a barbecue and daily provides shock treatments..... To his groin area, his ear lobes and eyes.
Yay, that’s the mileage I’m looking for....
Sorry - I thought you were commenting on Chavez and his fondness for Bolivar.
Bolivar was no Washington. Unlike GW, he never contemplated giving up power, instead trying to maintain himself as a permanent dictator.
To be fair, he didn’t have the option of returning power to the people, as Washington did. The newly independent S. American states had nothing even vaguely resembling a governmental or republican infrastructure. The choice was not between freedom and dictatorship. It was between one of several possible dictators and civil war.
Bolivar also committed some appalling atrocities, again with some mitigation due to provocation. The Latin American Wars of Independence weren’t nearly as honorably fought as ours was.

"I go to seek a great perhaps" ~ Simon Bolivar
A state too expensive in itself, or by virtue of its dependencies, ultimately falls into decay; its free government is transformed into a tyranny; it disregards the principles which it should preserve, and finally degenerates into despotism. The distinguishing characteristic of small republics is stability: the character of large republics is mutability (CHANGE!)
~ Simon Bolivar
A people that loves freedom will in the end be free.
