Looking for this dogs puppy.
The American English Coonhound evolved from Virginia Hounds, descendants of English Foxhounds.
Originally these hounds were used to hunt fox by day and raccoons by night and were named the English Fox and Coonhound.
Today's American English Coonhound is a wide-ranging hunter that possesses tremendous speed and endurance, and excellent voice.
A strong and graceful athlete, he needs regular exercise to stay in peak shape.
The breed's hard, protective coat is of medium length and can be red and white ticked, blue and white ticked, tri-colored with ticking, red and white, and white and black.
The breed is pleasant, alert, confident and sociable with both humans and dogs.
--------------
The AKC recently allowed this breed to show and a lovely one was in Westminster this year.
As long as a breed type is set and maintains that type for a certain amount of time, it may go on to be recognized as a distinct breed.
In fact, that's how all breeds came to be.
The Chinook is a Mastiff/Husly mix that is now an official breed.
I know Crested owners.
They’re very nice charming dogs but you have to accept that the gene that causes hairlessness also affects dentition.
They will lose their teeth.
The “Powderpuff” version who have more hair have better luck keeping their teeth.
They have been an AKC breed for quite a while.
They were pets of Chinese royalty.
You could go to old issues, to see if any dog described might be yours.
But seriously, had a customer years ago who had one, and it was damn ugly but she loved that dog. I recall she had framed photos of her former GSD dog adorning her apt which she couldn't replace due to her health. She had Systemic Lupus and was thus hypersensitive to many irritants including pet dander and the CC was the only choice for her. It was docile, if a little fearful of strangers, tho not yappy in my presence. But it was clearly very loyal to her and low maintenance she always said.
In Europe, the Belgian Shepherd has 4 varieties: Groenendal, Tervuren, Malinois and Laekenois. But AKC split that breed arbitrarily, IMHO. UKC considers all varieties Belgian Shepherds, however. So, there is precedent for separating a breed into multiple breeds according to color. Go figure.
BWAHAHAHAH...(cough/clear throat)...MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHH.
See what you did there, baby cakes.
I read your post and couldn't stop laughing - laughing so hard I started coughing! I'm sorry Donna, but I'm on "Team freekitty".
"...others must provide your pleasures..."
A good Flame War can be like a tonic - a pleasurable one. I haven't seen one in a while, so thank you there, toots!
Instigating a Flame War on a thread where someone is trying to track down her pups.
Why have you even gotten on this thread in the first place? And why have you stuck around this long. Sometimes people start Flame Wars just because they can. They aren't even interested in the topic. They just want to play Flame Wars because it feels so good!
I'm flame retardant right now - so if you want to flame me, Flame Away.
It will give me something silly to talk about at work tomorrow and I'm known for my silliness.
Thanks for the material, sugar lips!
I love Betty White! She loves dogs.
She's funny, too.
Wonder if we could get her on FR so she can follow the doggie threads.
I'll try to reach her...
He has gone after bear and pigs with a bow and usually hunts that way.
Shotgun for ducks though.
He is ok now, one foot was pretty crushed but with metal and screws he walks just fine, if you don't count the pain.
He's a dirtbiker too, so road rash is just a minor distraction to him.
He fought the ins company long and hard but managed to get it fixed. 10-14 G's worth IIRC.
Had special custom ins so they had to come up with the dough.
Kinda hard to sling a buck over a fender on a dresser, but easier than on a custom bike.
Doesn't look that bad, but note the dent in the tank. Fishtailed pretty hard until he finally met the ground.
The kid's pretty tuff...
Bull Terriers and Cocker Spaniels, too.
I double-love Betty.
Guess why..:)

>Bull Terriers and Cocker Spaniels, too.<
Oy!
Love the bizarre costuming and the use of negative space for background.
The Cocker is split into varieties as opposed to breeds. They can still be interbred, as can the 2 varieties of Collie (Rough & Smooth), the varieties of Dachshund and the varieties of Beagle (13 & 15 inch). I have to check on the BTs, but I think they are separate breeds.
The Norfolk & Norwich terriers used to be all lumped into the Norwich breed, but were separated by ear carriage not that long ago.
Smooth and Wire versions of breeds galore.
The AKC is nutty.
:)
OMG!
Pappy rode for quite a ways with an angry buck literally across his lap.
It jumped off the bank and landed on him.
He maintained control and carefully laid down the bike and all he did was gripe later that the buck ruined his good winter long rider coat.
Tough dude.
:)
Her videos are all gorgeous.
Thanks for showing me something I would never have seen, otherwise.
:)
And Corgis.
LOL
I first saw her on her TV show “Life with Elizabeth”
where she and the costar would sit at a piano and sing “You are my Sunshine.”
Towards the end the announcer would ask her "Elizabeth, aren't you ashamed?" and she would shake her head....no...LOL
Bears repeating.
Dogs are so precious and they also help us carry our burdens.
I had a really bad case of pneumonia a few years ago...really bad case.
At the time, I had a Schnauzer Mix.
Morgan (I didn't name him but he LOOKED like a Morgan) and I were on the bed when I started coughing horribly and couldn't seem to be able to shake it off.
Morgan came over to me and just leaned on me. Morgan was just the medicine I needed. I miss him still and its probably been 10 years or so that I had to let him go.
I have a full Schnauzer now named Dougie. Sometimes I can see Morgan's temperament in Dougie. Must be the Schnauzer way.
