What would you do if you accidentally stumbled upon a man getting strangled in an elevator?
If this video, produced by ad agency Thinkmodo, is any indication, most of us would pretend to look the other way. As a marketing stunt for a new action thriller, Dead Man Down, starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace and Terrence Howard, the company staged a mock murder-in-progress in a New York City elevator and films the reactions of unsuspecting people trying to board.
Though you have the odd person attempting to beat the attacker with a newspaper, some bystanders clearly pretend they didnt even see the attempted homicide and walk way. One man is shown to be recording the footage, although its not clear whether his reaction or really, any of the reactions is staged.
Thats not to say everyone is all bad. Some people clearly threaten to call 911 and one brave woman even tries to drag the victim away from the strangler.

Not to worry. This was in New York.
Interesting.
My first thought was that they’d better not try it in a conceal-carry state.
“Depending on whos getting strangled, my question might be: You need some help with that?”
I’m going to be laughing at that one for a long time and each time that I think about it!
No no, the whole thing was fake. Everyone was an actor, including those who “came upon the scene.”
Do you know how many lawsuits there would be if they really did that? And of course, the danger of someone killing one of the guys? All fake.
Um this is insanely stupid. Good way for someone to get killed. Moronic.
Just because something has a law against it does not mean that it ceases to exist or ceases to occur.
Yep...I suspect the whole thing is set up with willing actors. Someone would have called 911 and the cops would have showed.
Sorry but no, I talked with Mayor Bloomy and he assures me Mew York City is a Gun Free Zone for Civilians. Because...
He sez so!
The only people armed in NYC would be criminals and they probably would have just taken the victim’s wallet.
Quickly (all same time!) Eyes, throat. Knock wrists of attacker toward the outside from the inside. Eyes, throat again and ribs. Sweep. Stomp.
I say the whole thing is a fake.

Well, I suppose that is the case, I mean he is the god of New York after all.
I should probably be banned from planet Earth for blaspheming him :O
I think the bystanders were all actors. All the responses were way too weak. the fire extinguisher spray looked fake too.
Totally faked. Everybody gets that the ‘bystanders’ are paid actors who rehearsed their ‘reactions’ with the two guys, in front of 4 or 5 very large, obvious cameras, until the director liked the takes and paid all 20 or so actors? As long as you get that is all entirely ,fully faked, every second, then fine.
I was walking to a football game and attempted to break up a fight. It turned out to be a mom attempting to subdue her autistic child. I congratulated her on looking really young.
