Report: Obama Considering Susan Rice for National Security Adviser Daniel Halper March 9, 2013 7:24 PM
Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador the United Nations, is being considered to be the next national security adviser to the president of the United States, according to media reports.
"Rice has emerged as far and away the front-runner to succeed Thomas E. Donilon as President Obamas national security adviser later this year, according to an administration official familiar with the presidents thinking. The job would place her at the nexus of foreign-policy decision making and allow her to rival the influence of Secretary of State John F. Kerry in shaping the presidents foreign policy," reports the Washington Post.
"The appointment would mark a dramatic twist of fortune for Rice, whose prospects to become the countrys top diplomat fizzled last year after a round of television appearances in which she provided what turned out to be a flawed account of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
"That episode ignited a firestorm of criticism from Senate Republicans, who questioned her honesty and vowed to oppose her nomination and exposed misgivings from more liberal detractors who questioned whether her temperament, her familys investments and her relations with African strongmen made her unfit to lead the State Department."
The Post maintains that Rice remains close to Obama. "Rice has largely fallen below the medias radar, but her standing within the Obama administration remains secure, according to White House officials and Democratic lawmakers. Her U.N. colleagues are betting she will ultimately serve as Obamas national security adviser, probably some time after the United States assumes the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council in July."
What difference does it really make?
The fish stinks from the head on down
If I read that the dummy in the White House selected Michael Moore for a cabinet position, I honestly wouldnt be surprised
while we are at it, why not elect Sean Penn as “The Assistant Secretary Of State” he can fill in for John Kerry whenever he needs to fly to Rhode Island to hang out on his yaght.
I see. Well, isn’t Big Bird a bird of color?
You know it! What a punk. He's gotta get up each day chuckling at the crap he's going to pull and knowing he'll get total approval from the media.
Susan Rice. God help us.
Uh, GW brought her to prominence, or do we so soon forget?
Rice’s consolation prize.
Thanks Sub-Driver.
I go with Chelsea. She would have two constant advisers and would never go into a battle zone without one of them. All good.
Are you thinking of Condi Rice?
Puppets appointing puppets.
Caroline Kennedy ?
“I wouldnt ask Susan Rices advice on how to catch a cab in Manhattan.”
I thought you said CRAB.
There are twelve republican disciples that broke bread with the master the other evening. Obama, Jarret and other enablers must be having a good laugh about imitating history.
We did not forget, we did not ever know this actually.
I appreciate your response, and all I can say is wow!
I am convinced that sometime around 2007 I have fallen into the Twilight Zone.
How soon before HaleBopp returns.... I need a lift.
Well I know I’ll sleep better now.
Like they had any to begin with.
Before I log out I just had to point out the erroneous statement, without further comment or SOURCES, made by itsahoot.
Uh, GW brought her to prominence, or do we so soon forget?
How did he bring SUSAN Rice to prominence. I can find nothing to support your claim. If you were referring to Condoleezza then have the integrity to come back and admit it. Man up!
