Rand Paul Filibusters Brennan
March 6, 2013 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Rand Paul, ladies and gentlemen, is actually doing a filibuster as we speak. He's doing a talking filibuster. He's actually on the floor of the Senate trying to shut it down. This is over the nomination of John Brennan to be the next CIA director. What Rand Paul is upset about is the domestic drone program that everybody in the regime says is perfectly fine.

Obama and Eric Holder say, "Yeah, we're perfectly content with a program of having drones in the air domestically." Eric Holder, the attorney general, refused to say that Americans cannot be killed on American soil by a drone. Obama runs the kill list. They've really hyped this. You know, the media made a big deal out of Obama personally choosing targets on the drone kill list. They did that because, as a liberal, Obama's considered to be a pantywaist when it comes to the military and foreign policy.

All liberals are, not just Obama.

So they want to make him look like a big, tough guy, John Wayne. "He's got the kill list. He's not afraid!" Well, now it's been learned that this Brennan guy at the CIA and others in the regime want to fly drones over the United States for the purposes of killing people. Rand Paul has actually taken to the floor of the Senate right now, as we speak, and he's vowing to stay there at length in order to filibuster Brennan. I hope he means it and I hope they bring in a Port-A-Potty, which has happened.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to know how Rand Paul made it in to work today. You know, Washington is shut down today because of a blizzard. The only problem is the blizzard hasn't happened. They announced they're gonna shut down because of snow, and they did. Except it hasn't snowed. That's how he was able to make it to the Senate.

RUSH: We have a couple of sound bites of Rand Paul's filibuster. He's on the floor of the Senate. He says he's gonna speak until he no longer can. He is filibustering the nomination of John Brennan to be the CIA director because the Obama regime is making it clear that they got no problem with drones flying over America, drones that could be used to kill American citizens.

The attorney general, Eric Holder, wouldn't rule that out. Rand Paul says that he's just tired. He's had it. (He doesn't want to be ideological about it, though. He doesn't want anybody to think he's motivated by ideology on this. Let's be clear.) He's tired of the administration shredding the Constitution. He's simply tired of it. He's sick and tired of this administration ignoring it -- or, worse, just essentially tearing it up. So here's the first of two sound bites from the Rand Paul filibuster that is going on now on the floor of the Senate as we speak.

Holder: Obama Admin. "Has No Intention" Of Carrying Out Drone Strikes In America

PAUL: I will speak until I can no longer speak. I will speak as long as it takes until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by a jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court. I will speak today until the president responds and says, "No, we won't kill Americans in cafes. No, we won't kill you at home in your bed at night."

RUSH: Until you've been tried, until you've been convicted, and then we'll send the drone over your house. I know he didn't mean it to sound that way. It's because he's filibustering, and these things are tough to do. But he said, "No American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime." What he means is, "We ought not be killing anybody with drones, period, whether you've been charged with a crime or not." The administration is going to start flying drones over the country for the purposes of killing people? That's what he's opposing.

Here's the next sound bite from the Rand Paul filibuster...

PAUL: I'm not standing down there as a Republican who will never vote for a Democrat. I voted for the first two -- I voted for the first three nominees by the president. This is not about partisanship. I have allowed the president to pick his political appointees but I will not sit quietly and let him shred the Constitution. I cannot sit at my desk quietly and let the president say that he will kill Americans on American soil who aren't actively attacking our country. The answer should be so easy. I can't imagine that he will not expressly come forward and say, "No, I will not kill Americans on American soil."

RUSH: But up to this point, nobody in the regime will come forth and say that. Was Holder asked about it specifically? (interruption) He was specifically asked. He was specifically asked about the possibility using drones to kill Americans, and he didn't rule it out. It's an unlikely hypothetical, but he won't rule it out. They are going to reserve that power for themselves. Of course, they're doing this for the poor.

You have to fly drones over the country and kill people for the poor. It's all about redistributing wealth. If you can't raise taxes on the rich, you drone 'em. (interruption) What? Well, as far as the low-information voters understand these things, why would we be flying drones? Obviously it's to get people like Romney! I mean, we're doing it for the poor. We're doing it to the people have more than they need. It's all part of a fair and balanced approach, kind of like Fox News.

That's why we have to do it.

Eric Holder said that a drone strike on American soil, on an American, in the United States, could be, quote, "necessary and appropriate under the Constitution," close quote. That's why Rand Paul is filibustering. Did you ever think you'd see the day? I know some of you say, "Well, what's the difference in that and Sheriff Arpaio rounding up prisoners with a gun and making 'em wear pink underwear? Well, what's the difference? So we're gonna use a drone to kill bad guys instead of a shotgun. So what?"

People who support Obama will say that.

Don't be surprised.

They'll come up with all kinds of stuff.

Watching it live as I type. Ted Cruz is expanding the conversation to a blanket takedown of Obama and the progressive agenda! This guy is awesome! Shame on all those not standing with Rand Paul to demand answers. Where is J-Linz? Sharing meatballs and spaghetti with Zero. Losers.

Brennan should be deported to KSA for converting to islam. He’s just another brown nosing government bureacrat who does his masters bidding in exchange for cash.

I am not defending Brennan, but you are ridiculous for suggesting that Brennan should be deported because he converted to Islam.

First of all John Brennan is a natural born citizen and second, since when is it a crime in the US to convert to another religion?

Hannity reported that, he said there were 12 or 13 republican senators dining with that arrogant pos. It’s a shame that they fell for his trap. My senator was one of them.

Stand with Rand Paul and Ted Cruz—The MSM will pull out all the stops to make them look like fools, racists, etc... We must stand with them. What they are saying is Right. Many Democrats agree with him. This is History in the making. I believe this is the beginning of the end for President Obama and his left wing cronies. Its not the end—just the beginning of a movement that will topple this arrogant would be king.

I tweeted Boxer and she said she would go over and relieve Paul after the Right To Life Rally is over.

The best we can get in the senate from Cal is when the don’t vote at all.

Oh, CA.

Sorry for you pal.

Don't get me wrong, I love CA and visit the Monterrey Peninsula (Carmel/Pebble Beach) every August for the car stuff but live there, just couldn't take it.

I met some great folk who lived in Half Moon Bay. They were selling their business and home to move to Tennessee!

I asked them if they'd ever been to TN and they said, "No but we like the idea of living in an area where taxes are low or nil and the air is clean and you can visit Nashville anytime you want!"

Oh, Corker. What a disappointment he's been. I had hoped for something better out of him but I guess he's another GOPe.

It's so sad when these guys (and gals too) want to get into office, sounding really strong on conservative issues, then hang pictures on their walls, walk the halls of Congress, listen to guys like Boehner/Cantor, etc. and they've lost whatever manhood they possessed.

As for returning home, nope, no way.

Like the old song said, "How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Paree!"

These jerks move to DC and never, ever leave, even when they're no longer in office.

They really must hate their home towns and state. No wonder why they do us so dirty after gaining office.

I think that they really believe that winning an election makes them somehow superior to everyone on the planet!

This is certainly NOT what the Founding Fathers ever had in mind, i.e. elites lording it over everyone of their constituency while being paid by the "little people" back home!

I never thought I'd say this, being an elected GOP County officer, but there is no difference in the parties on a national lever, except for such a small minority in the GOP and they're considered scum by the rest of the pack. The only difference between them is whoever is in power at the time, behavior still the same, i.e. laws are made by them to be obeyed by us!

I will never understand why we would want a person who has converted to islam to head our CIA. The coincidence between Obama as president and the rise of islam in this country cannot be denied....and it is very dangerous.

Love your area too but you're right about city turning lib.

What's happening in my area (KS suburbs of Kansas City, MO) is that people are moving West across State Line because of high taxes, failing public schools, lax police on crime, etc. everything else libs bring, then vote for the most lib person in an election and drive all around with Obama bumper stickers on their cars.

I just saw one this evening sporting the following, "I (heart) Obamacare," "Obama/Biden 2012," and "Women for Obama!"

I just about threw up looking at the gal driving the car. Good thing she was in the left hand turn lane or I might have accidentally bumped the back of her bumper!
