I am revealing my age when I say it reminds of the Laugh-In line, “And General Franco is still dead.” I never got the joke but they used it often enough that it got a hugh laugh.

Actually, I think it was Saturday Night Live, not Laugh In.

It was because of the multiple reports of Franco’s death over a long period of time. No one knew what to believe, and it turned into a big joke, which SNL capitalized on. That’s all.

Actually, it was from Saturday Night Live. I never got that joke either.
