IIRR, they taste like chicken.
Years ago, someone told me the Jews ate them and was responsible for their survival...and that the story of the bread and fishes was an analogy.

I witnessed a huge locust invasion in Yemen in 1987. It devastated the qat industry but the next day there were piles of fried locust available sold as snacks.
Not bad tasting. Remove wings, legs and head and insert in mouth and chew. Had a slight almond taste. Nothing but protein.

"IIRR, they taste like chicken."
I read they can also taste like shrimp.
Hope they aren't in Chicken McNuggets or shrimp cocktail....or maybe I do hope they are!

The fact is, according to folklore, there is a specie of grasshopper that is not restricted by Jewish dietary law, that is they are kosher to eat but over time the identity of the specie was lost, forgotten.
