You make that sound like a bad thing. Especially now, compared to the unrecoverable morass we are currently facing.
Honestly, they should have passed a CR every day, 24 hours at a time, forcing a budget vote. That's why they sent the TEAparty to Congress.
Denial just ain't a river in Egypt. We need to do entitlements first, especially Medicare. And what did we do? We just added another huge entitlement program called Obamacare.
Do you know what the Germans did to get their fiscal house in order? They reduced benefits to the elderly. The Greeks cut pensions by 20% and it still is not enough. This other fiscal housekeeping won't come any where near solving our fiscal problems.
I totally agree!
RodGuy, I put up with you wailing and moaning about voting for romney for well over eighteen month. This morning in an earlier comment you appeared to be coming to your senses regarding the utter failure romney was in his campaign.
Your reference to 100% is a non sequitor. Soliciting for a small G’ment is FREEDOM. There is simply too much G’ment at all levels. There are more laws passed by every branch of G’ment that allow any prosecutor way to much leverage and g’ment money to create monster havoc.
The Republicans at all levels have been complicit with the Democrats in extending their personal power/money at our expense.
In Texas we had the good fortune of electing Ted Cruz, who as of this time is being vilified by McLame and other REPUBLICANS - what ever happened to Reagen’s 11’s commandment. (Sarcasm intended)
You live in Florida - Your “republican” governor has just singed up for romneycare -
Someone in an earlier thread asked why the Republicans DO NOT EXPEL people from the party. What does the Republican party stand for? What do you stand for? When will you have enough G’ment?
Making excuses for spineless elected officials is no way to go through life.
If you cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Every citizen needs to fight. Once you give up you become a slave.
lol, after all that....surely you will.
This Tea Party member since April 15, 2009, would rather have adults in congress that live to fight another day. We simply have to deal with the fact that Obama is President, and Harry Reid is Senate Majority Leader. Makes a great cartoon, but it's hardly a way to govern:
Mouse just needs to stop wavin’ fingers and bring a bit of firepower to that deal.
...havin’ the stones to use the stuff might help, too.
My opinion is cave-ins have consequences, just as elections do- so my answer is yes they are complicit...
With Reid controlling the Senate and Obama the WH, Republican control over spending is in name only. Think about it. We are governing by crisis and by continuing resolutions. There is no agreement between House, Senate and WH which is what it would take to control spending WITHOUT A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.
CRs have to be agreed on by all three. These are passed because there is no budget that all three can agree on. At every turn, Dems refuse to cut or reform and insist on tax hikes. There can only be “compromise” CRs - that is, votes to keep the government wheels turning as things are to avoid a shutdown.
So when you say you don’t understand why spending isn’t under control of the House Republicans, you are saying you either don’t know that if they held out for their version of, say, the Ryan budget which is DOA with Reid, the government would shut down, or you know it would shut down, but you don’t get why the Repubs don’t simply LET it shut down.
Think about the shut down angle, because THAT’s your alternative scenario to spending continuing to go up.
That would be fine with you, I’m guessing, but think about it in reality terms in this whole struggle. It’s an option. But think about it. Don’t fail to include its repercussions in your musings...
Last thing: remember that entitlements are just that, ENTITLEMENTS. That part of the budget is eating us alive and reforms must be made but the Dems refuse reforms. Now add on top of that, Obamacare. Also the interest on the debt must be paid. Must.be.paid.
Not a pretty picture.
In Texas, we did put Ted Cruz in the Senate but Texas - not speaking of individuals but Texas as a WHOLE, ALSO massively voted for Romney.
Do you understand what that means? Texas, of all places, massively voted for a Yankee, Mormon, moderate-to-lib because he was not Barack Hussein Obama. Such is not a normal Texan vote. But these are not normal times. The candidates were who they were. One or the other would be President the next 4 years.
Brag on Cruz, by all means.
Just remember the rest of the vote and remember WHY Texas pulled that lever. Would you have preferred they NOT have pulled it? Because I assure you, if they had not done so, Obama voters in Texas would have won this state for Obama.
I don’t think rodguy needs to be ashamed. If he needs to, then the state of Texas needs to. But such would be HOGWASH.

As Doctor Evil said to Austin Powers, "There's nothing more pathetic than an aging hipster."
Two good ends to a great thread. Thanks Alas Babylon.
Probably.
OK then, how about a new (downsized) CR every week, instead of every day.
It would be impossible for the press and the apathetic American public to ignore, AND...it could be used to put the heat on the Senate, highlight the FACT that they violated the Constitution by not passing a budget, and force them to act responsibly or be replaced.
