It appears with each passing day another member of the media is coming out to share unpleasant treatment at the hands of Barack Obama and Company.
On Thursday, in an appearance on NewsMaxTV's Steve Malzberg Show, former Newsweek senior editor Jonathan Alter said that in 2008, Robert Gibbs sent him an "abusive email" as a result of an article he wrote about Obama and disinvited him to a dinner the candidate was holding for reporters in Berlin (choppy audio follows with transcript and commentary):

Did he call Nixon's White House to warn them? No! Did Dan Rather call Bush's to warn him about the fake-but-accurate story about the TANG? No! Did the National Enquirer call Clinton to warn him about the Lewinski story? No! Did Kiefer call Obama about the Acorn video story? No!
So why did the seasoned, experienced Woodward call Obama's White House to warn them about this story? Sure, Woodward's angry, but not for the reason he says.
It needs to be repeated over and over that these so called reporters whined, licked the hand that beat them and then begged for more!
I wonder how this White House emails compared to the Bush era with say Tonny Snow in charge. I think I already know the answer.
Very good question and in all my scouring for info I haven't seen it asked before!! I don't know, perhaps it will be asked on the Sunday shows? Maybe....
Did he say anything about it back in 2008? If not, why did he wait to tell us this until now?
They just announced on Special Report that Woodward will be on Hannity tonight!
I think the difference is that Woodward’s story on the origins of ‘the sequester’ isn’t ‘investigative journalism,’ as was Watergate or (theoretically) TANG. If you’re reference to ACORN meant to say O’Keefe, again, that was ‘investigative journalism.’
The National Enquirer and all other media kept the Lewinski story under wraps; it was Drudge who broke that story.
“Journalists,” their editors and publishers are, in the main, cowards afraid to confront power, especially if it’s a power that espouses their very same political philosophy.
Thanks, but I doubt it. I find myself shouting questions at the TV for these interviewers, but they never ask them. Hannity is the worst. He asks questions from a script, but is apparently not listening because he doesn’t ask follow-up questions.
I’ll bet folding money Woodward won’t be asked why he called in the first place.
So, Obama deserved a heads-up? Why? I think that’s unethical journalism because it gives the subject of the story an opportunity to spin the facts in advance of the story.
Meh. Hannity won't ask because everybody knows Woodward's head is so far up Obama's butt he's looking for a flashlight.
This story won’t go anywhere. It will only last until the next news cycle when something else of national interest comes along. Obama has been doing this for 5 years.
The liberal media has battered wife syndrome. “He still loves me. It’s just politics. He has to be that way.”

We all shout questions at them - if only they could hear, lol. I’m not crazy about Hannity either, but will watch him tonight.
Maybe the battery has run down because Woodward has called him a 'fibber' mentioned Obama's 'madness' and explicitly showed when and where Obama both lied about and proposed the sequester.
You've answered the question yourself, and the answer is obvious.
Woodward called because he's writing about a Democrat administration and Woodward is a Democrat. Ethical? No. Predictable? You bet. It's family business.
Would Woodward ever consider doing the same for those horrible neighbors across the street, the Republicans. Absolutely not. Never!
Lol, we both posted at the same exact time!! My ‘hopeful’ reply and your probably ‘correct’ one. I’ll admit to not following Woodward closely but am always hopeful ‘the worm has turned’.....
Team Obama is doing a boatload of “spinning” now, as more come out of the woodwork to report their experience. What they are doing, tho, isn’t so much ‘spin’ as it is a frontal assault. All the better for all to see.
I don’t think this really comes close to ‘unethical journalism.’ We don’t know the context or content of that phone call, but in summary it seems Woodward called to let Sperling know what he’d written and that it’d be in the next day’s paper. He wasn’t calling to ask if it was ok to publish his story, or asking how the WH would like the story written. It was a fait accompli. I think that isn’t so unusual nor confined to Dem Administations only who get a heads up.
I hope you’re right about Woodward, that would be a real positive development. Maybe there is a patriot in him at some level.
