SEALs arent supposed to find themselves in trouble that they cant get out of. Thats why the Navy is seeking to buy 300 new survival kits for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, sometimes known as Navy SEAL Team 6.
Theyre the guys who raided Osama bin Ladens compound in May 2011 and sent him on an all-expenses-paid trip to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Save for the downed stealthy MH-60 Black Hawk chopper, the mission was a grand success. But, being military men, they have to prepare for worst-case scenarios. Thats where Wednesdays solicitation for what they call Personnel Recovery and Survival Kits comes in.
The Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG) has a requirement to procure personnel recovery and survival kits (part number 0293-D) on a brand name or equal basis, it says. The brand name is SOLKOA [visit their website here]. If quoting an equal product, vendor shall provide all salient characteristics in order to be considered for award.

Silly question: a satellite radio to call the nearest aircraft carrier for an airlift outta Dodge.
Cash in the local currency to bribe your way out. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
A knife with a hollow handle is a broken knife in the bush. Ya need a real tang into the handle. IMHO.
Let’s see. A double-barrel shotgun, a rape whistle, a cell phone to call 911, and of course an espresso machine with three (3) packets of coffee ... what else could anyone possibly need? /liberal
1. A wallet photo of Hillary Clinton to comfort me.
2. A copy of my latest government check showing additional with-holding.
3. A pamphlet from Planned Parenthood so that I can remember what I'm fighting for????????
4. K-rations approved by Michelle Obama including carrot sticks, broccoli, and dried eggplant from her garden.
5. The emergency phone number of the Benghazi consulate.
6. A photo of President Obama playing golf with Reggie Love so I can remember the game after the terrorist break my legs if I'm caught.
7. A phone number of a girl Sen. Menendez said to look up if I'm ever in Central America!
If your kit doesn’t contain a functioning brain no amt of h/w will save you.
Add a pen and a pair of scissors and the kit is complete....
Sorry, that's last year's model. Today, we have John Freakin' Kerry:
Take comfort in THAT, I dare you!
Realistically speaking, a Navy SEAL captured in hostile territory will probably be executed - or, at the very least, tortured with the most extreme level of barbarity imaginable.
NOT good to get captured.

Yes, of course. The pen and the scissors. How could I have forgotten about the scissors?! Absolutely essential. Probably more important than the shotgun.
Good job, thank you! Amazing they can fit so much into such a small package.
A burka.
Laz, I can just hear Maj. King Kong (Slim Pickens) reading that list from the Capt. seat in that B-52.
