Since 2000, Asian-Americans have consistently voted Democratic. In 2008, Asian-Americans gave 62 percent of their vote to Barack Obama. Last November that number jumped to 73 percent even as the presidents margin of victory in the popular vote was cut in half as he garnered a Dukakis-like 41 percent of white voters and slid by more than 13 points among Jewish-Americans.

Not all. Several Indians I work with are very conservative. They state the reason they left India was to get away from socialism. They like Onamacare almost as much as I do!

Our earlier discussion lead to memories of the visiting the Sun Yat Sen Memorial in 1990 on my way through Guangzhou on pilgrimage to Mount Kailas in Western Tibet. I looked the memorial up on line just now, to find it almost unrecognizable after a 1998 remodeling. I have fond memories of the juxtaposition of the memorial to Sun and his vision with the narrow, bustling nearby streets where men were busy collecting the mornings night soil to take to the countryside.
