'What does Hollywood have against the British? Once again on Oscar night, Tinsel Town gave warmly to us with one hand while cynically taking away with the other.
The good news is that at least nine Britons will fly back across the Atlantic with coveted golden statues.
But the bad news is that Argo the movie that won Best Film is yet another piece of Hollywoods Brit-bashing junk history that casts us in a poor light.'

Brit anger at Ben’s Argo: UK diplomats deny movie ‘slur’ that they ‘turned away’ Iranian hostages as portrayed in Oscar winner
Argo was a complete work of fiction.
If it makes them feel any better, I’ve watched far more British television and movies than Hollywood’s garbage in the last year.
I can’t even remember the last TV show I watched....I must admit, I enjoy watching the Mexican novelas that my wife likes to watch. They are actually very well done (and don’t tell my wife, but the women on them are hot!)
I’d be happy to recommend any British TV or film, past or present, adult-orientated or family friendly.
Well, count yourself fortunate. In Benghazi, President 0bama actually let the embassy personnel be slaughtered.
The article is a bit overblown I feel, but interesting enough to post imo.
Good, now you can dislike Ben Affleck as much as we do.
Maybe Afflict only wrote it that way so that he could suck up to Obama.
And the reason for Brit offense over Argo is pretty tenuous. Seems more like a matter of perspective than insult.
Hell I can remember J.K Rawlings commenting on how when the director was chosen for the first Harry Potter movie that he was *GASP* an American (like it was a bad thing) even though he was reputed to be an excellent director.
Hollywood slavishly follows Obama. And we all know how HE feels about Britain...
Guess Guy hasn't noticed. Hollywood is all about bashing western culture, western history, western religion, western accomplishment, not just the Brits per se. But it often does it in turns. In this movie, yes, it is the Brits. In the next four or five, it'll be the Americans with the Germans (Nazis) sure to get their share of Hollywood's old thumb in the eye somewhere in there too. Basically, Hollywood's target is the white race. The big hoot is that Hollywood itself is the perfect example of what it hates most: white, rich, stupid, evil, immoral, despicable.
What pissed us off about SPR was the British were mentioned only to slag them off, the Monty comment. And btw, it was the Royal Navy that landed the US troops on that beach, as they did almost all allied troops: 79% of all ship son D Day were British (50% of all air cover).
The Canadians are the ones who should feel slighted by Argo.
Most digs are comedic and not overly nasty. This is about real history, where distortion is much more serious.
BTW, Rowling had to fight tooth and nail not to have the Potter books made completely Americanised. All but the studio she went with wanted to make Potter American and relocate the books to the US.
She opposed the American director simply because she feared he might overly Americanise her story, NOT because he was American. You ignore the fact she lauded his directorship after the film was made.
Monty was a controversial figure - and widely disliked - among Americans in Normandy during that period. The rest of what you say is true, but SPR wasn’t a documentary - it was a fictional account of a group of US rangers.
“I know I’m a prima donna. I admit it. What I can’t stand about Monty is, he won’t admit it.” - Patton

Agreed.
