For girls born after women were appointed to the Supreme Court, "Makers: Women Who Make America" is a history lesson.
The three-hour special that airs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, on PBS is naturally not just for younger women. It is for everyone those who relished victories whenever women won higher office, experienced fury when colleagues made sexual advances or were frustrated when schools allocated money only for boys sports. It's for males and females those who suffered the indignities and fought to change the world and those for whom the ERA is only a baseball stat.
Meryl Streep narrates the film. It features the accounts of famous leaders of the women's movement such as Gloria Steinem and Marlo Thomas as well as interviews with the first woman on the Supreme Court, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, and lesser-known women including Barbara Burns, one of the first female coal miners.

The 24-word Equal Rights Amendment fell two states shy of ratification. Reflecting on where the movement is today, and some politicians' stance on rape and their failed attempts at subjugating women, Thomas says, "I don't think we are sliding backward. Some conservatives are terrified about women having power."

"I fully support the women's movement...especially when I'm walking behind one."
The whole feminist ‘revolution’ was a lie. Starting with the suffragettes who wrote the ‘Seneca Falls Declaration’ you’ve got a long list of anti-family, anti-Christian lesbians who agitated to destroy the family and church via the voting booth. If I had my way I’d revoke the 20th Amendment, Title IX, and etc. and work to make women feminine again.
As I’ve often said: There’s nothing feminine about feminism.
I think the term “natch” in this instance is probably sexist.
lol
Fixed that right up.
Feminist..lesbian..same thing.
What other perspective is there?
I saw the Frontline documentary on The Women’s Movement. Even they said it was the start of the Gay Rights Movement. All the leadership looked like 1970’s Women’s Softball teams.

The title itself is, or could be considered sexist if it had ended thus: from a female perspective snatcherly”.
lol.
‘PBS ‘Makers’ explore the lesbian movement from a deep source...
The times were changing without these women, and the country would have been a lot better off without them. They hated men, their country, and (many of them) the fact that they were women. I despise Steinem, Friedan, and the rest of those fem-nazis for doing their part in trying to destroy America.
A few words about the great feminist Marlo Thomas:
about ten years ago my wife and I were exiting a Broadway
play through the front exit/entrance vestibule, and I glanced through the glass doors and noticed a black Limo idling in front. At the exact same moment, I felt a very strong push at my back, and lurched out of the way of the person behind me,
the pusher, who flew by me, head down, in a flurry of glossy dark hair, and proceeded to the limo.
It was Marlo Thomas.
“THAT Girl”.
Free to be, HER, apparently, but not ME.
” the term “natch” is...probably sexist”.
Reminds me of the only joke comedian Steven Wright ever had cut from his act on TV:
“ When I was a kid, we had a dog who had two vaginas.
We named her “Snatches” “.
This girl says “amen!” to your post.
Like we really needed that bit of charming information....
I played softball in the 1970’s...and we had to play one of those Lesbo teams....talk about weird...
I would NEVER see “The Makers”. But I heard all the hype about it—including the big Twitter-fest while the program was airing yesterday.
Individuals like Gloria Steinem—whom the filmmaker worships as a “hero”—and Hillary clinton, should NEVER be called “makers”. In fact, they are BREAKERS—they helped destroy the shining city on a hill that America once was!!!!
Feminazis like Gloria Stinkem helped pave the way for the rule of the “politically correct”, and the rise of the gaysbians and the Muhammadans in our poor country. And Serbophobe Muhammadan-kissers like Hillary Rodham Izetbegovic Khomeini do damage all over the world, facilitating jihadi conquests such as those in Kosovo, Bosnia, Egypt, Libya, and soon Syria.
There should be a film that tells the real truth about the feminazis featured in “The Makers”. But unless Dinesh D’Souza gets busy, there won’t be such a film. Too bad!!!!
